Homemade longboards?

i was thinking about making a longboard. i wouldnt mind some tips, pointers, steps even on how i should go about doing it.

post up some pics too, lets see some homemade longboards!

Marine Plywood, then cut a template out of paper and perfect it, then jigsaw your board out using template and sand it. i would recomend 7-8 ply for the best flex

I've built a couple, they're pretty sick to ride knowing you've got something unique under your feet. I highly recommend baltic birch, It's a strong plywood that still has a bit of flex to it, I'd suggest using 1/2" 3/4" ply depending on how long of a board you're wanting to build. also i use minwax spar urethane glossy finish for the cover and also get traction sand for the grip, I like it better than using regular old grip-tape, looks and feels better if you ride barefoot. pretty simple application proccess, apply a coat of urethane, let it sit for like 20 min, loss sand on top evenly, apply another coat to board (bottom side first so you don't get sand on it) and let it sit for at least 24 hrs. drilling holes is the hardest part but just measure everything out make a template even.

i've made a few that have come out pretty good. i would reccomend using a 12 ply 3/4" birch, that is what i usually use. i draw one side of my stencil then fold the paper and cut it out so it is symetrical. make sure to spend a lot of time sanding and making everything even on both sides. it might take some trial and error but it's not tough you'll be able to do it.

my buddy makes some. theyre sick but the only problem is their flat, he doesnt bend/warp them, so theyre a bit too flexy.

super fun to make! ive made a mini derv, hadn't put trucks on it yet though. my fav was an old skateboard i had that i angled the trucks on by putting them on both kicktails ( idk what the ends on a skateboard are called haha) doesn't turn well at allllllllll but its real low, and real fun to bomb cause it doesn't get wobs

the toothless site had some nice steps, the only thing that kinda sucks is im not going to be able to form the board, like get any curves, because i dont have a press, so is just a flat deck going to be way too flexy?

i'm making my first one in my wood tech class and its planed to like 5/8 inches thick and is shaped like a FISH, can't wait to finish it and put pics up
