Homeless Living in Whis

So it's looking like this season I'm going to end up without options for crashing in Whistler on fri-mon, and I'll be spending a lot of time sleeping in the back seat of my car. Hence, this thread: how to get by without a place in Whistler without having to drive back to Vantown. Any suggestions? Any ideas? Where should I park? What does fireside cost now for those occasions I can afford to pay for shelter?

Those who think I'm joking: we do what we must do.

yeah last year i use to just crash in my car. I just parked on the side of the road in a quite subdivision.. it works fine i wasn't even cold. If you PM me you can couch crash at my place once and a while

i also will be doing much car sleeping this winter. Legends, First Tracks and the Marriott all have showers, hot tubs, refrigerator, fire places, bathing suit driers (which work remarkably well for gloves and other ski accesories) and barbecues... I've never been busted from any of these. First Tracks doesn't even have staff! a hot shower, meal and hot tub before climbing into your bed on wheels is just a door knock, or fence hop away...

legends is a good call. I lived in the town plaza underground for a while, they have plugs everywhere, if u have a little space heater. and u can park in a resort cabs parking spot cuz there always empty.

Wow. I definitely figured if anywhere would be patrolled, it'd be town plaza. I'm not going to jump any fences for fear of career-related repercussions, but outlets and glove/boot drying devices are key.

One night my friend parked in the parking lot near the skate park brought a sleeping bag and pillow but it was too damn cold so he just went and slept in an elevator. so whatever he does you probably shouldnt. just couch surf.

Which is of course a great option if you can find a couch. Sometimes it can be arranged, other times less so.

i thought you'd know a lot of people up there.

last year i always had a place to stay at 2 of my buddies houses and 2 of my friends place in staff so i'd just go to a new place every weekend it was good shit.

so im gonna be doing alot of car sleeping this year as well, but have only done it up in the summer there... How cold does it get? i got a pretty small car, but its dam comfortable. Do i need to bring a 1000 blankets or would a good sleeping bag do the trick? i was also thinking bout wiring up an extra battery to a heater or something. anyone done it before?

it gets pretty fuckin cold at night dude. bring a sleeping bag and a few extra blankets. if you can get an electric heater to run off the battery do that too

ive car slept up there millions of times, its not super cold but i would deffs bring a good sleeping bag and one other blanket

It's definitely not that bad. I've done it with just a sleeping bag in the back of a jeep before. An electric heater is unnecessary, and it'll drain the battery, so no go on that one. Though it may be handy for drying gloves for a short period.

Usually it's not too cold up there, but it does happen. Last year in January there was a good 4-6 day stretch where it was -15 in the village during the day, at least -20 during the night. Those nights can be really really dangerous.
