So I just finished up our schools HC dance, and I forgot about how fun they can be. the mindset I had going in was pretty sour from years past, so I wasn't expecting much. The entire thing is a 'you get what you put in,' scenario, and figured it'd be fairly interesting to hear about any HC stories or opinions.

Imenent shitstorm, but at least there will be some form of genuine responses.
 
i think hc dance is way fun. i don't really do a whole lot when i get free time though so maybe thats why it seemed so fun, because i was actually doing something
 
Never understood the people that didnt go to dances..theyre some of the funnest times in hs
 
Up until this year (sophomore) i didn't really think hs dances were worth it. Took this random girl and didn't really hang out with her but i met this other girl that was super cool (she skis) and now we're dating. So yeah... im glad i went.
 
I'm a senior RN and I only went to dances my sophomore year. Wont go to any this year cause I'm too edgy for school functions.

the first two HC's I went to as a Frosh and a Soph it was a pretty solid 7/10, the seniors and juniors were all over the girls in my grade. Now as you become an upperclassman its a helluva lot better.
 
Currently questioning my decision making skills in a social environment.... also have a picture of me grinding with some chick going around. Went over a kids house with a sauna, hot tub, pool and massage table. parents made us a shit ton of food and i slept through him going to work, waking up with only his cats, dogs, and mom in the house. so thats my homecoming weekend.

I spent my homecoming weekend laying in bed trying not to die. Got my wisdom teeth out on Friday morning and developed a sinus infection by Friday night. This is a fucking brutal combination, can't breath out of my nose and it dries out my mouth when I breath out of it. 0/10 would recommend.
 
Went for the first time to see what the hype was about and to maybe get a second shot with this one chick. The dance sucked ass and my date didn't even wanna dance. RIP.
 
When I was in highschool (2004 -2007) school dances were pretty lame. When I was a freshman/sophmore I went to HC and when I was younger it was okay, but by the time I was a Junior we could go to Prom. When to prom with my girlfriend and it was fun, but I was at the point in my life where I wanted to booze down or get blazed when I went to shit like that and my school was SUPER strict about it. Every dance had cops with breathalyzers at the door, if you even acted drunk they'd pull you aside. This was mostly caused by previous classes getting drunk as fuck and going to dances and a few kids got caught selling drugs (weed and coke) in the bathrooms at dances. Needless to say, our school dances were decently lame.

So this dude a grade ahead of me said, fuck this were having our own dance. He was a senior and organized his own dance. No teachers, no real authorities, it turned into a revolution of "dances" in my high school.

My senior year HC was SO BAD. Shit music, annoying church member chaperones that would split up people dancing "too dirty" along with all of the other nuances that came with terrible high school dances.

So my friend came to me with the idea of doing our own dance, like the on kid did the year before. He fronted the cash for everything, only ended up being like $600 to put it on (building rental at fair grounds + PA system which we got a deal on) and we put up a shit ton of posters that promoted our dance, talked shit on the school dance, etc.

So basically we created a playlist, put it into my laptop, and got hammered as fuck with my friends at a great "dance" (more like a social gathering with some bump and grind) it was great, my buddy made like $2000 (tossed me a few bucks for helping) and I'd like to think we sparked a string of independent dances through that year. Almost every month there was a dance, we'd get drunk as fuck, grind on some girls and have a shit ton of fun. Basically it can be compared to going to a bar/club and dancing with girls and hanging out with your friends, it was a great time.

TLDR school dances were always lame, we threw our own dances, they were legendary.
 
I graduated in 2012 and my mentality shifted over time. At first is was all about being "popular". Then it jumped to getting strange and being a legend (Never happened, don't worry). Then in 2012 it was all about the after parties. Yea the dance is w/e, but it was all about where you went afterwards, to get rowdy.

Homecoming was different every year I attended throughout high school. This past Saturday was my senior year homecoming, and it was odd. This year people had a sit-in protest just so that the lights would be turned off. The DJ would usually have a shit-ton of lights flashing and shit, but the guy had only two. Couldn't see shit, but I had a decent time.

However everything has changed since freshman year and it's all changed since the days of moshing to darude - sandstorm at every dance.

We usually have a dance or 2 a year after football games but the only people that go are the sorta odd kids and cheerleaders that show up drunk. Everyone else branches off and has parties. Middle school dances were hype, dance with a girl you barely know, get really sweaty and listen to dope skrillex and Jason derulo

Someone put weed in the vents at our school. It was legendary.

Also my highschool hocos sucked. They packed everyone in the cafeteria to dance and there was so much sweat on the floor girls had to take their heels and shoes off. Also-shitty dj that plays mid 2000 pop music and the cha cha slide of an iPod.

Yeah the breathalyzer thing happened at my HS as well. Also went to school the same years.

Def was a bummer. That said you could burn before hand, or sneak it in there/drink a little bit in there but if you couldn't be blatant about it.

We didn't have any church chaperones though
