So i dont know if this is better in gear talk or in the ski gabber but ill just go for it here. I just bought a sled and im trying to figure out the best way to attach my skis. I have a few ideas but i thought i would just check and see if any of the newschoolers sledders have any genius ideas. so post em up!

Old ATV gun racks work well, just be reaaaaally careful when drilling through your tunnel so you don't hit your coolant tub. If you don't want to drill, a combination of bungee cords works well so keep them connected on either side of the tunnel sitting on your running boards.

I'll sell you mine for $300 they are mint, welded aluminium, you could sled all day and not even notice them, also a good trick is to get a drysack or tumperware container, strap it to your tunnel and put your ski boot shells in there then put your ski boot liners in a pair of winter boots and swap them when you get there. Sleds and ski boots are a horrible mixture, wreck your boots, wreck tunnel and wreck yourself cause you cant drive.

i just took an old snowboard binding and cut one of the sides off and used the strap to make a loop. mounted to to the back of my sled.

ive heard of big pvc tubes with bungees working well. i always just used bungees and it worked fine

The lower the profile, the better. Falling off your sled and catching your ski rack to your back is never fun.

All - Here are the various sled ski rack options. Have a look at the options and make decisions that are right for your needs, not others.

Things to keep in mind are the following:

Keep your ski's and/or board away from your feet, and your seat

Recognize you will need storage, and what the cost of that storage rack will be (on top of other systems to just hold skis)

Tunnel Support, the rear of your tunnel can really only manage about 20 pounds.....this are requires re-enforcing

Installation times, can the rack be removed if you don't want to use it on a 'sled only' trip

Hope this helps everyone looking to get out and play.

For a really light weight, simple to use, very strong rack for only 160$ for a set of skis check out our racks at backcountryadventurgear.com I think you will find them hard to beat. We built them because of the danger of home made racks stabbing body's in the back when they fall off sleds or cheap gun racks coming apart and tearing up the tunnel. Anyways happy skiing

Anybody run the backcountryadventuregear rack with a snowboard? looks like it would work great for skiis but looks like the snowboard sticks out alot.

Don't forget to check out our brackets and straps for 'DIY' setups.

The Brackets come with a 5 year warranty and the straps are strong enough to lift an entire sled full of gas.
