Our entire galaxy could be destroyed, all our problems and shit all our artwork and music philosophies and structures, everthing we thought we knew/are could be destroyed. And it would change NOTHING in the universe it wouldn't even be noticeable.

they even say that this is a small representation and that it is actually 1000 or so times bigger than that last image.

If you weren't lazy enough to watch the video for at least 10 seconds you'd realize there are no words to it.

I raised a catholic, now i am an atheist. I feel the reason religion exists is a sorry excuse for not having knowledge on how things work and wanting to escape death.

watching stuff like this that shows how incredibly small we are compared to other things out there makes me wonder if there are planets maybe the size of a beach ball or smaller that have completely developed civilizations on it and we have just overlooked them

Wow really eye opening. Everything that has ever happened in human history is so small when you realize how expansive it is out there. Definitely more life out in the universe.

Theres definately other life out there...

But you know when we find it were just going to make them our slaves and spend another 100 years having a repeat of black people right?

I'm not getting into the religion debate, but I'm just wondering how labeling yourself an Atheist, or anything for that matter is a cop out. Humans like to name things, it's a fact. If you don't believe in god, why can't you label yourself an Atheist. The same way, that if you believe in Catholicism, why can't you label yourself as a Catholic. I don't see it as a cop out to label yourself. Imagine trying to tell someone that you don't believe in god, but you're not an Atheist.

"Yeah, I don't believe in god"

"So you're and atheist?"

"Well, I don't like to label myself an atheist, because it's taking the easy way out"

".............wut?"

Again, I am making no comment on religion.

Back to the main point of the thread:

I love videos like that. It makes part of me feel so insignificant, but then I realize that, although I may not, or the entire milkyway galaxy for that matter, have any impact on the universe, in my day to day life there is meaning. Whether it be someone believing in an ultimate meaning of life, or someone just going about their day, it has meaning to everyone. Don't go all nihilist on me and be like "Oh there's no meaning, blah, blah, blah" I'm not talking about that. I still live my life, and so does everyone around me, and as long as I'm alive I'm gonna make the best of it regardless of my impact on the universe. Why, because it has an impact on me and the people around me. Somehow, little electrical signals firing can create emotions and thoughts, and it's amazing that we can even think. But instead of getting caught up in that, and using it as a cop out (so close to being hypocritical) and saying "Oh, this has no relevance in the grand scheme of things so I might as well not do it" Live life to the fullest, and if anything, live life a little more on the edge, because if you truly believe that we have no impact in the grand scheme of things, you should have no problems taking some risks.

ya thats pretty much the reason i dont give a shit about anything, what difference does it make if we all get eaten by cougars. none, absolutely none

Each and everytime i hear or watch something liek this I freak out. Who did created space? Where does it end, and what stops it? I won't sleep again..

The World... IS FUCKING AMAZING. The space, all the black we see, it has to end somewhere? WTF?? My brain is about to explode.

ya, thats called a belief system, not a religion... if you do not understand such a mundane detail such as this, then obviously you can not even begin to comprehend what religion is and means to some.

nice vid. makes me think how small we are and also how relative space is. this really gives the impression that if your fast enough, you can reach any object in space.
and the sheer improbability of of us being alone.

did someone else notice how they put the kailash with its lakes lao tso/mansarovar in "the middle" of the universe? you can see it in the very end, those two lakes very close to the "cam" with a small glaciered mountain behind it. just some coincidence if your educated in buddhist/tibetian mythology.
