Holy Pick My Fucking Ski Thread

Whattup NS, Basically just need a bunch of opinions on which ski to choose,.

About me:

I am 5'6 140lbs. Very agressive skier. Looking Specifically for a Park ski before I move out west. Pretty Much 50/50 Jumps and Rails. I prefer to ride 176-181, and like a lighter ski to compensate for the longer length. Skis never last long for me, so I dont enjoy spending alot. ALL SKIS WILL BE MOUNTED WITH FKS 180

What I'm Thinking:

Armada AR7: [/u] 176-181

Seems like a great ski, super light very poppy, but they are a little expensive, and Im never sure how long my skis will last.

Line Chronic:[/u] 178

Dope ski, love Lines durability, But Im sort of worried it will be a bit heavy considering the width. Also relatively expensive.

Rossignol S4:[/u] 181

Ive owned these skis before, and i really enjoyed them, they are light, and really slayed the rails only thing is they didnt last long (30 days) after which I lost all my sidewall underfoot, and lost my base. They have older S4s at my shop, so Ill be able to get them a little cheaper.

4FRNT Switchblade: [/u]176

I currently ride 4FRNT, and I find them a little heavy, but they are nicely stable on jumps. I can get them on proform, so thats he only reason im interested in them.

Let me know what you guys think, I actually have no idea what to choose.

im thinking the armada halo. there a little more expensive but are super light and poppy also are quit durable. Plus there stable on up to 50 foot jumps. if you want something a little stiffer maybe the alpha basicly the same ski only the alphas a bit stiffer. Just my 2cents hope this helps

how do you use a din of 18... I know skiers your hieght and weight who ride the same and only use at tops a 14 or 16 .

Anyways if I were you I would definitely see if you could try these skis. But chronics and switchblades are great skis, then again you can't really go wrong with any of those all decently ranged for what you want. If you can find any of those cheap, get em. Not to be a nurd but Line does make nice skis and the chronics def. have what you are looking for, same as the ar's. But if you are looking for a more symmetrical ski, chronics would be a fine choice (121 and 117 or something like that).

I'm tired, i'm sure others have much better answers/opinions.

Whatever, they're skis, they will break, buy what looks cool to you or something that you think would be a fitting ski for you in all purposes you look/ride for.

Ar7 if ur just gonna be in the park, chronic if ur gonna be all over the mtn. Can't go wrong with either

S4's killed everything for me all over the mountain and in the park cept pow obviously. My only issue was edge durability so take that into consideration

You could also look into the Atomic Punx. Full symmetrical shape, good pop, low weight and they did some sort of improvement with this years model concerning the durability on rails.

Depending on relative prices I would forget the AR7s, they are good skis but if you really thrash your skis they won't last significantly longer or be significantly different from any other 'standard' park skis. By standard park skis i mean regular camber, middling flex, around 1cm taper between tip and tail, ca 20m sidecut. Pretty much everyone makes one of these, AR7s might be the best but it makes very little difference.

The chronics don't feel any heavier on your feet than any other park ski, I could barely tell the difference between them and Halos in terms of swingweight. They would be my choice if money was no object. Great ski.

But if you're on proform, i'd just get the switchblades, presumably that makes them half the price of other options and like i said most 'standard' park skis feel more or less the same. They are a bit on the heavy side but is that worth $200-300 to you? Probably not since i doubt you notice with them on your feet.

I just started riding my liberty antigens and I love them, you pretty much described them; they are super light, have a fast swing weight, rockered... but I can already tell they wot last me the season. I rode them once yesterday at a preseason open house thing, and they are already starting to chip a lot and the side wall seems to start to delam, but you can get them off sierra trading post for about $200 so i think its worth it.

From what i've heard AR7 will last longer than the other options, from a durability standpoint armada is where it's at.

I am not in anyway closer to picking a new ski, I just need a majority of people to tell me what to pick.

My cryps have held up excellently. They are well worn, but for 100+ days of park only skiing I still have all my edge. Many many edge cracks and chunks are being pressed into the sidewall, but I have seen other skis that don't have nearly the same amount of days with much more damage. Send it for the chronics Liam! This years are lighter, I don't have a problem getting my cryps to swing around.

nothing like tiny people using 18 din bindings. Unless you have size 22 boots there is no way you should be at 10 or 11. thats just retarded and no shop would set that.

a shop actually set your bindings at 11? there is just no way a shop worth a damn would do that.

apologies for cluttering up your thread. good luck finding a ski

if 11 is above what you should be at i promise you it was not documented. thats a serious liability for a shop if your knees break and there is documentation that they set it above what you should be at.
