I dont know how many people heard about this but jon won his first gold medal in an FIS race shortly after earning his first podium with a silver. your really working hard for this. so much respect for you, and the fact that your beating these guys is amazing. keep it up.

Yeah, Jon's by far my favorite skier. And he's in breck working on the NA open course now!!!!!! SO sick

I forgot, what was the bet with the guy that started him racing again? I remember it was like around 8000 us dollars but i forgot what the conditions of the bet were. I cant believe he is actually doing this well though. So sick.

holy balls, does he have any goofy spancers yet like bode did? why the hell do you need a pasta company to sponsor you racing? (banilla)

bode has a pasta company because he can, he is one of the racers i enjoy watching because he pushes the limits...

PROPS JON!!!o11e!1!!!1OnE!!!!

not to be a negative nancy....but......jon's fis points for gs are 68 and his points for slalom are over 100. 68 points wouldnt get you onto a Div. 1 college team, nevermind a national or olympic team. At age 26, jon would have to drop his points to the single digits for the swedish team to think about giving him a spot on the world cup team. Jon is not serious about the 2014 olympics. C'mon this is the same guy who said he was going to become a profession surfer a few years back.

That said, none of this takes away from him being perhaps the greatest jump skier of all time and one of the truely legendary innovators of freeskiing.

While his points are at 68, his best finishes are a 46 and 48 point race which is pretty amazing since he hasn't ski raced in what 7 years? If he can do that in one season, why do you think its impossible for him to drop them to single digits by 2014 (6 years away).

he just started racing again. hes been training for what, 2 months at most? and thats with still making time for freestyle. 2014 is a long way off and if hes committed enough he definitely has a shot at it

im fairly sure he said in his blog the race didn't have the top skiers in it but still here come jon!!!!

it's like his second race...

also, the pro surfer thing was a joke for the intro to a ski segment.

i think u start out with a certain amount of points and get them taken off everytime you do well and you want to get as close to zero as you can, but i think only real pros make it to zero.

Good for Jon, but you guys realize winning races at that level is about the same as someone who doesn't play baseball regularly winning a high school baseball game and winning the Olympics would be like the same pitcher winning the 7th game of the World Series? Yeah, it could happen, but it's not very likely.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for Jon making the Swedish team just to prove a point, but his chances of winning a gold in any alpine racing event are slim to none.

I'm pretty sure his main goal isn't winning the Olympics, its first to make the World Cup team, which is definitely possible at the rate he is improving.

Good Luck Jon.

Things like this gets me motivated, "slim to none" I love it, makes me want to hit the gym right now! Haha

I read a bit on here and will as usualt explain a couple things!

1. My SL points are from 2001 and I do not intend to ski SL so I dont care if they are 1000.
2.Yes, not the hardest race to win but you have to start somewhere, in racing its hard as fuck to come from the back, its all about the start nr. In the first FIS I did the fall I beat a guy in training the day before but then at the race I started 118 and was 10 sek behind him, so start nr is everything!
But now I earned some points so I am not starting last anymore witch is a hell of a lot more fun!

So I know that winning this is very far away from winning WC but I know I am fast enough to do that, its just going to take a long time and a shit ton of training, but I am ready and the more "but his chances of winning a gold in any alpine racing event are slim to none" I hear the bigger my chances will be!

Anyway its fun as hell so I dont really care!

BTW Don´t hate on racers, I have realized after going to all these races that they are so stoked on the whole park thing and most of them would love to do it,so if a races comes through the park, don´t yell at him, be nice instead!

in that case:

jon, you suck, you'll probably never win another race again...ever. in fact, i HOPE you don't ever win another race. after all, you don't deserve to. you're the laziest skier ive ever heard of.

i imagine if a moderator didnt think i needed a sticky, they would change it. quit bitching about it being a sticky...
