holy shit, I have mad respect for big wave riders. Ive never surfed but I even got tore up boogie boarding small waves I can't imagine how bad those things must crush you. Its like the equivalent of people trying to outrun avalanches on skis, on purpose.

I need to get my ass out there in the winter, im always there all summer, in other words, when theres no waves.

 
that was awsome, i think a few of those waves will be in contention for the xxl award this year, i paused that one, and assumeing the guys board is about a standard 6'6 tow board, i figure it to be about 75ish feet, that would be the biggest wave ever ridden, and the funny thing is it looked like makua rotham, and he won the same award 2 years ago for a 66 footer. for those of you who dont know the xxl wawrd is an award given out every year by billabong to the guy who rides the biggest wave of the year, the prize is based on how tall the wave is, 1000 bucks per foot, not to shabby for surfing one wave.

Highfive I was just refering to the danger of it. You can't say they will always be safe by 'holding their breath for 30 seconds' a wave that big can easily slam you against crap underneath the water and kill you or knock you out.
