I may be taking a trip to NY to Holiday Valley, i've never heard of it in my life, is it a decent place? does it have a good park? BTW im from Ontario so anything is a step up from my local hills ;) Thanks

Good place. I love it. There are 3 good parks (when open) and a small rail park at the bottom of the main hill.

I enjoy it

the snow has been coming down lately, and 2 of the parks where open on sun. decent shape, they had a redbull slope-style comp a few weeks ago and left some of the features up,if its snowing, pick around in the woods to find some WNY powder haha

its been my home mountain for 13 years and its decent fo sho. parks are gettin alot better and we gots some new rails. it's got some flava

It's alright. Park was very mediocre compared to Blue Mtn or MSLM (which if you're from Ontario, I'm sure you've been to), in the past. Haven't been there this year so I cannot say for this year. Me and my buddys would drive 3.5 hours to go to Blue and MSLM over Holiday for park even though HV is an hour away.

Overall skiing is alright. Only 700' vertical, so it's not exactly leg burning, and not too much steep stuff. Good bump runs though.

The vibe is good though, and the bars in Ellicottville can be a shitload of fun.

Snow can be good, they have a really powerful snowmaking system, so coverage will be good, but it gets icy often if we aren't getting much natural snow. We've gotten 3-4 ice storms this year, so it's been hit or miss, and the lake effect dumps haven't really come this year.

What week are you going to be there?

I've been there once, and might go there tomorrow night,

you could almost compare holiday valley (in terms of terrain) in between MSLM and blue, in other words, bigger than louis and slightly smaller than blue.

I'm heavily considering skiing HV Saturday as well... I need to hit some jumps and my closeby, local hill built the most absurdly dangerous jumps this year. 40 footers to flat 25 degree slope angle landings.

ill be there friday and saturday hopefully they will have the pipe open the jumps this year are alot better then the past years tho...

never even heard of it? wow.. yea the park is usually pretty solid with the rails we got this year, and the jumps are either really good or terrible depending on when you go. but besides a handful of riders there isnt much of a park scene compared to most mountains tho...

Park update:

almost everything has been changed around in a week. I'm guessing there will be more stuff up for the weekend, they are working on foxfire still.

/ icon and title

message Foxfire has two big jumps with super mellow and wide kickers. Up top is

the dance floor and trap rail. I don't think there were any other rails

besides the c box which is kinda built into the pipe wall, it looked

nice but I didn't get a chance to try it. Butter box and trap box were

closed, wall ride still up. The foxfire jumps are not my style but

thats what people seem to want so I guess I'll try em out a bit. I'd

say they are 35-45 feet with zero pop and nice landings.

Pipe was very icy and needs grooming

nicely done beginner sized jumps on snoozer.

The mardi gras park actually looked decent. Step down box, urban style

box, small rail but not stupidly small, dance floor set going up, mini

wallride, barrel? mini jumps, maybe more.

Conditions were excellent tonight. Tons of machine made snow and

natural snow.

alright thanks for the help everyone, i'll be there saturday with a brown coat, brown pants on 4frnt MSP's. (brown and yellow)

I don't think there is anything built on moonshadow, I haven't been over there.

Some people seem to really like the new jumps on foxfire, just not my style.....

I may be there on Saturday or Sunday. How is the terrain outside the parks? I am going to be staying in Niagara, ON. would it be worth crossing the border again for?

park was sooo nice last night... everything on foxfire was really nice along with the railpark

foxfire jumps were nice, but not my fav, very little pop but deccent size and setup

Just thought I'd put it out there, KB finally has 1 good jump, and 1 excellent jump. Both are 40-50 footers or so. One has an extremely long, steep landing, the other has a bit shorter of a landing, but still steep. HUGE booters.

They were pretty sick this afternoon.

I liked the jumps a lot more today than when I first tried them wednesday. There is a whole bunch of new stuff on mardi gras and foxfire. The up box is cool, something different

Fucking awesome scene there, some really chill people and a solid hill. The only problem I had there Saturday was the one fucking lift broke down when we were on it, got stuck enjoying the scenery for about 25 minutes lol.

Great parks, I was skiing with non-park people so I wasn't in there much, saw a few skiers throwing switch 1's and switch/natural 3's off the two booters with a good bit of style. NY definitely didn't disappoint me at all w00t.

BTW the Wall was a shit load of fun, I didn't fall but going up that lift was hilarious, so many people ate shit.

Yea, they put alot of good stuff in the past week. Two weeks ago didn't have much to offer, but last friday was alot of fun. Alot of stuff in the mini rail park, and the pipe's finally open. Glad you enjoyed it, it was a great weekend in WNY to ski.

On the way back to Ontario we ended up taking a drive through the Buffalo slums late at night, fucking sketchy there, i've never seen anything like that in Ontario, just thought i'd point that out.

anybody ski a bright blue lethal decent jacket??? anyway just seein who you were cuz you had a ns sticker on your helmet

while i was there on sun, a snowboarder hit a tree and was taken to the hospital, today i believe they took him off life support, i was not aware of the severity of his crash but my condolences to his family and RIP
