Hockey

I couldn't skate and always just wanted to do tricks like figure skating. Thanks goodness my parents found freestyle skiing or I might look like this guy now...

i played hockey for 16 years, took this year off and didnt like it at all so im transfering schools for the chance to play the game again.

idk how old you are or what level you're playing at, but work on your skating technique, keep your head up, learn to trust yourself and just play for fun man.

and lift this summer. offseason is the most important in terms of progressing. lower body lifts and anything that strengthens your core and increase stability/balance.

if you have any questions or want anymore advice shoot me a pm.

this, or patrice bergeron. just watch a lot of hockey and pick out certain players and watch what they do with and more importantly without the puck

if you're just starting out don't focus on the moves guys make. study you're position and just know where you're supposed in relation to the puck. and don't chase the puck around, play your position and you'll do great and the coaches will notice.

just wondering, what league are you going to be in? if you are a Bantam or older i would strongly recommend you join a house team for the first couple years. if you try to join outright in the older leagues it is going to be a huge shock. and you probably will not get many minutes.

this. go skating as much as you can before you play. being able to skate and keep your head up while handling the puck are the most important things.

i played roller hockey a few times, never played before. I can skate really well and that made me a good player to start with. i couldn't shoot well but i could certainly move around and get the puck.

keep practicing skating first and foremost and develop a good sense of positioning and a reflex of always being able to know exactly whats going on around you

What someone said up there. Focus on your skating and knowing where you need to be in relation to th puck in different positions. You can probably skate I would imagine from pond hockey or something but this will be your biggest disadvantage against kids who've been playing. Also, set up a net and get mad pucks in your yard. If you put down a piece of plywood to shoot off it will slide relatively naturally so you can work on shots. Work on wrist shots and snap shots don't worry about clappers too much. Also stick handle all the time with tennis balls. Dude have fun you are about to begin playing the most fun game there is. Ps start working on your flow hagaha

most important basic skill is to be able to handle the puck moving in all directions without having to look down at the puck. once you get that, everything becomes sooo much easier
