hockey rink snow

i've heard alot of you guys talking about using it to set up rail slides but how do you keep it from turning to ice? i think it would be sick to get somethin like that set up but i'm confused as to how to do it...any suggestions?

why would it turn to ice? snow doesn't turn to ice. it's just shavings from the zamboni at the skating rink...ice shavings..ie very small pieces of ice...ie SNOW. it's a little slushy, but whatever, it works great.

a kid i work with said that when it's cold it will just freeze up in a pile of ice...i've never actually seen the shavings so i didn't know what it was like...do you guys have any trouble getting ice rinks to let you take it?

it's never cold enough where we are/when we do it (usually in the summer when it's like 60-70 degrees) we're more worried about it melting. we've never had a problem getting it either. they just dump it in big piles behind the building to melt, so they shouldn't care if you take it.

dont get ice shavings in the summer, just do it in the spring and fall when its 30-40, then it doesnt melt right away.

Markers don't suck!

Damn straight, things are happenin' in the midwest!

when we've done it, it's lasted more than long enough, and once it melts/as it melts, you can still ski pretty good in just the wet grass.

the key is salt. if you're going to build a jump or set up a rail - use salt. it'll make the jump nice and hard - and won't melt as fast.

i built a table in my yard in september, it was real hot except in my neighbourhood.....we had 23 truck loads af ice rink snow, the zambonis just dumped it straight into our trucks.....ahhh the perfect birthday.......

dude that's fuckin sick. i set up a rail in april in my backyard and the snow lasted plenty long even without snow. we only had one pickup truck full of snow and we didn't even use it all. about 1/4 of the snow was used as a beer cooler

We actually set up 2 rails on the weekend at the local rink. The zamboni driver asked us where we wanted the snow and then he dumped it for us. Just built a drop in to rail, then I had a sideways rail that you could go up on and stall and drop back in! It was sick! Super fun riding with no snow! Backed a car up with tunes and cracked beers! Learned nose slides on my board!

and I'm spent....

I just tried this the other day and it worked great. It was real spur of the moment so we couldn't get a truck, we just filled up all the coolers we could find... had barely enough for a small drop in and a coupla rails. Next time we're gonna try and set up a jump, but we haven't figured out how to get enough speed to do much. Any tips on building a run in?

Go behind a local grocery store or warehouse and 'borrow' some used pallets (wooden skids) and stack them up. Add some snow and presto! A nice dropin. Just make sure you put the skids back when you're done. Then everyone is happy! I run a warehouse and have had many pallets stolen. It is frustrating!

and I'm spent....

me and youjngbuck had a jib session this weekend. we got 6 22pound bags of ice, crushed it up, and jibbed a 6 foot rail, haha it's all we could get.

the ice rink in moscow likes us to take the ice because when it melts it makes a huge mud pit...

Every time people walk by the rail they stop, look, wonder what the fuck is going on, and some times throughs a snow ball at a friend. its gay because they use the snow that we need for the next day
