hands down boone will stay in buisness, I can bet all of you hating on the company have never held or ridden a pair of boones. They are a super durable ski, that is one of THE lightest skis I have ever picked up. There whole crew is super hard working, and just trying to make it in the industry. I dont think for a second there copying any ski...

there was another boone thread. but heres my 2 main problems with the company

1) they lack anything really "innovational" their pow ski isnt even fat. they are just pretty average all mountain twins

2) This is my real problem with them, the ridiculous, over the top self promotion. Every thread asking what kind of skis to buy one of their riders is in there going ZOMGZ BOONES ARE PERFECT FOR YOU. they hype themselves wayyyyy to much, over something that isnt really that amazing

dude boone skis are fucking stupid, the come barging into the ski industry with all this self hype and no new or even slightly creative idea's, same goes for coreUPT

Thanks for the hate guys. Yeah, not all pics turn out great. the name "Boone" was chosen for three reasons:

1. All the other inde lables are trying to have trendy names which is cool - but sometimes leads to confusion. ie: Movement vs. Moment In addition, we feel, what's in a name anyway? It's really about the quality of the product. Our skis may not be the most innovative in the world - but that is primarily because we aren't testing strange new shapes on our customers. We are offering a quality product that is extremely light, strong, and durable. We also give our pride ourselves on excellent customer service.

2. You don't have to pay to trademark a surname. this is a big cost reduction.

3. We wanted to pay respect (while by no means making comparisons) to the longstanding ski companies like Rossignol, Elan, Head, etc who followed the same naming pattern.

That's about it. Go ahead and hate and hate. We appreciate the press. Thanks.

wait so you kids are hating on boone because the owner is jacked? i have only heard good things about these sticks and am planning on riding a pair next year.

that's because coreUPT picked up a fuckload super pros...how do you expect an independent company like boone to pick up colby and tj?

I think you guys should all just give up the hate on boone. They have done absolutely nothing wrong but tried to sell a product, and you guys feel like hating on something none of you have skiied or even picked up. Boone himself is by no means a douchebag, probably one of the nicest guys in the industry I have met, and all he wants to do, is support some smaller athletes, and make a solid product.

Ok ok, lets simmer down here a bit.... no need for outright flaming.

Hah man I know what its like to have the hate turn on you... definitley no fun. :)

I think the comments about checking out the product is the best way to look at it... I mean we all like to say that markeing shouldn't matter and that it should be all about the product, but inevitably we get caught up in the image of it all.

Erik is going to send a couple of pairs of skis to the office, and we'll give 'em a thourough testing and let you guys know whats up. Then, once we have some real opinions we can toss 'em around?

Fair enough?

That's all good and well, but the problem for me is why should I buy a pair of your skis when there are already many other companies that have already proven themselves and offer the same thing. If you are a new company trying to break into this industry and all you're doing is selling a product that differs very little from many of the already existing products and you have very little credibility; I find it difficult to see why someone would want to risk purchasing your products. If you're not bringing anything that new to the table, there's not much room left for just a "good, durable generic park ski".

My 2 cents

Anyway as stowebum said, I will reserve all opinions on the quality of the actual products until I have tried them.

exactly my point. i can understand not being innovative (no reverse sidecut/camber/whatever) but at least make a pow ski thats a pow ski. not an all mountain twin

Thanks for the continued discussion. We appreciate it! You guys don't know about our new Powder ski coming out soon? It sounds like everything you are asking for. Rome wasn't built overnight. We weren't comfortable launching our rockered fat powder skis on day one. We have some additional quality checks to do, but you can expect them sometime in January. We will launch all the details in a team update sometime before December 1st.

perfect timing for everyone to be skiing pow with their already bought rockered pow skis that came out on time!

exactly. i tihnk the more mature ns is thinking this, but also forms no real opinion about boone until they've been ridden.

moment lasted because they offered something totally different, they came in when the rockered tech kinda started booming and offered that, but mainly the square tip design. its somthing unique and thats what kept them alive. offering something that already exists and having little credibility (as previously noted) prolly wont get you anywhere. you need something different to survive against the long-lasting original companies. but at the same time, the same designs are made differently, so just because the models are virtually the same, making them in a diff process or with diff materials could certainly enhance or worsen a ski.

and lastly, anyone who says "douchebag" because you would lose a fight to the owner is in return, the actual douchebag. if you have met the guy, on more than one occasion, and actually spent a decent amount of time with him, then you are entitled to your opinion. if you've only seen/met him once, well he coulda had a bad day, you coulda had a bad day. either way, you should spend more than 5 mins on one day to actual have a valid opinion on someone.

but to look at a picture and call him a douchebag because he has muscles larger than the average human, is retarted. you never know, he may fit into the guido stereotype (besides being tan). but it may be mostly genetics and just hard work and overtime building muscle, or spending hard hours in the gym. whatever the case may be, calling someone a douchebag because hes bigger than you and you dont like people that have bigger muscles than you because you think you know them when you dont, is the dumbest shit i have ever heard. thats like calling a snowboarder a douchebag because theres a stereotype among a lot of skiers that snowboarders are "bad". and its also like calling a skier gay because snowboarding is cooler. you all need to grow up.

nothing so far from either boone nor corupt has done anything than hype with little back up or originality that is good enough to persuade me to buy their skis.
if i wanted underground, small company skis, i would want something for a specific purpose, not another all around park ski. i want something different. i want something innovative.i also want a good deal, proving that you have confidence that people will buy your skis cheap and expensive. i want a ski that i know is durable, or if its not, it as a confident warrenty that i know if i break the skis, i can get another pair, and shipped to me quickly.

i had no idea muscles had anything to do with being a douchebag...his pose in that photo says "look at me i'm awesome! look at these skis i made they're as awesome as i am!"

that's why i called him a douchebag. i have nothing against the skis, i've never ridden them, and i have nothing against his muscles, muscles are a good thing and anyone who thinks otherwise is retarded. but that pose just reminds me of this guy

n292100292_730604_3750.jpg

yea, looks pretty frat boyish, there skis don't seem to be anything revolitionary either, and "The sexiest skis on earth", really?

so you're hating on him because of the way he is posing in the pic? hes not going to stand there and look sad and hide the skis...obviously hes proud of his product and hes going to show it. hes not going to stand there and show that his product sucks...

and the pose it reminds you of is also of someone with muscles who is posing with a girl, who he prolly doesnt want to look shitty next to...again, not going to try and look bad. again this guy has muscles...

i wasnt saying thats what makes him a douchebag, i dont know the guy so i have no opinion on him at all, but theres no reason to hate on the guy because of "the way hes standing"? or as someone else mentioned a "frat boy". seriously? just because someone is in a frat doesnt mean they are muscular and tan n shit. you either have no idea what college is all about, or clearly hang out with the wrong people.

ok, im confused, either my post didint actually get posted or it got deleted.

if it got deleted, i would be very confused because i didnt even hate. i said what parts of boone's post (that got deleted) i agreed with and what parts i didnt.

yea mine wasnt hating either it said "no hate on boone skis because ive never even seen them before but you couldve handled that better"

I met mr Boone once and tought he was a pretty chill guy who was STOKED on starting a ski company.

Not many people rode them yet and nobody but these people know how good or bad the skis are.

Do you even know what the owner of salomon, head,, coreupt or rossigol look like ? Stillyou are not saying the company sucks cause they are being owned by non skiers (at least the main money beihind it). I know eric likes skiing and there is no way you should judge him or his company by what he looks like.

I knew skiing wasturning into a fashion show but come on step back and look at how stupid some of your comments are.

i dunno about everyone else, but i was just making jokes lol.... have you never seen the bro-rape video on youtube? it was just too perfect of an oppertunity to pass up.

in case you or anyone somehow hasnt seen it, heres the video:
