Hitting people

Always moms/dads being angry when you near miss their kid cause they were in the landing of a feature.

And one time i took a pretty big sidehit onto the slope and threw a 360 and full on crashed into a girl my age just skiing down slowly. I managed to kinda catch her and bring us to a slow fall/stop :P aftrr that her dad comes up to us asking if we're okay and we were both fine and said: that was a great jump but next time please be more carefull. After that i said i would and just skied off ;)

Hitting a rail apperantly a boarder had cut into my landing to hit the next rail down (short park with super stacked rails)...didnt see him till I set and started my blind 2 out but luckily I snagged a glimpse of his board....inevitable collision, so I split like a spread eagle in the air and I was able to get one ski on each side of his board. Bear hugged him hard and we both were able to keep it up...he turned his head and said oh fuck I'm so sorry....its all good so i asked him if he was okay, he said yeah. He asked me I said yeah....we laughed....still intertwined at this point now just carving in the park.

I counted 3 2 1 and shoved him off like a rocket booster....both of us laughing. Good time 10/10 would hit that boarder again.

Same sort of shit as this. Threw a 3 off a side hit but I didn't realise they had groomed the other side and landed straight onto a piste (they never groom there so weird). This bloke dodged me and fell over and slid on his back leik 30 metres dunno how many feet that is but yeah he slid and hit a tree and he was shaking but was ok. He said to far king watch out next time and I said i'm sorry.

Skied on some dads skis once cause he was in the landing and I was riding out switch. Scary shit cause it would've hurt like hell for both of us had I gone another foot to the left. He also tried to pull my pass and said I always need to watch where I'm going. Probs an arrogant racer dad cause he was on some volkl race tigers or whatever the hell they're called.

What are some of your hitting people/ people getting pissed stories?

I ran into a littlest girl on a groomer a long time ago. I apologized and luckily she was fine. Another time this guy was yelling at my buddy at the top because we cut in to meet up with other people. My buddy called his girlfriend a slut so he started hitting him with his poles. My buddy was defenseless with no poles so I started hitting the guy with one of my poles. I have ridden with poles ever since.

Hit some European lady that was stopped on a groomer below the kind of roller you can launch if you’re at full speed. Hit her as my skis touched the ground and was able To kind of minimize the impact by bearhugging her and going into a controlled tumble together, something she had likely never experienced. She screamed obscenities at me the entire time as I went and grabbed her skis for her as they didn’t move an inch upon impact. Asked if she was ok, she said ok in between cussing me out and I left

This was back when you could still tackle people trying to hit a jump when there was an accident. I was on the lip. Coworker failed to stop the guy who skied around the board skis and boo. I heard that dreaded sound of dliding on ice right behind me and next thing i knew i was airborn. I think i either clipped the side of the knuckle and rolled or initislly landed on the side and rolled down into the trail. Scared the fuck out of me.

I did a 5 off a jump and a skier who had landed and was off too the side hiked back up to grab his. I saw him as i was spinning but couldnt domuch. Tried to carve around him but that leaned my upper body in anyway. Smashed him in the fave pretty good and broke his nose. He took it like a champ though even though he was spraying blood all over the landing.

For objects. tow hitch broke on a snowgun getting towed up and it hit the jump next to me. It probably would habe missed me but i jumped out of the way. That woulda sucked.Had a larged battleship rail pushed over on me by a cat once. That was chill. Hit a knuckle because park crew was raking jump, theres a fucking cat drving up landing. Open park, no signs, park crew waved at me but with music going and me not going close to hitting them ya know. Came closer than i would have liked to become real good friends with the blade.

Ive been hit countless times raking takeoffs by sidejimpin jerry.

Ive def been hit way more than hitting other people.

Usually aggro dad action was inly encountered by coming close to hitting s kid in the landing or cuting in to sidejump a rail. I dont think i ever leveled any little wedgers.

My friend and i were skiing a bit too fast on a pretty crowded and narrow run at whiteface. He was ahead of me and a 4-5 year old girl cut in front of him. Hes around 6' and 190lbs and he completely obliterated her (full yard sale on both ends) but because of the way they hit eachother there wasnt ant serious damage. She got the wind knocked out of her and was crying, and her dad skied over shortly after so give my friend an earful. We called ski patrol because the girl wasnt going to want to get up anytime soon, and my friend skied down with ski patrol as they sledded her down, exchanged numbers with her dad in the lodge, etc. Not a great time tbh

A few years back I was skiing on a crowded green at Mont Tremblant trying to get to the woods trails and this little girl cut me off doing a wide ass pizza and I had no choice so I skied right through her legs. I said sorry and she was fine because none of us wrecked so I just skied away lmfao

How small are you that you're able to ski through the legs of a little girl?

I was like 5 7 or 5 8 at the time. My knees hit her legs. She was probably like 5 3

This isn't an actual hit but such a near miss that I still cringe thinking about it.

Earlier this season I was hauling ass at the bottom (well, relatively speaking). At the bottom of the slope they had the "SLOW" barriers set up so, you know, people would slow down. I however, did not. Right as I was about to go through, a 4 or 5 year old started falling over (he wasn't moving, it was one of those slow "lose your balance type falls") towards the edge of the fence where I was shooting for. The timing was just perfect that I shot through between the fence and his helmet and I felt his helmet brush my boot. A couple of milliseconds later and I probably would have blasted him, or I would have had to take out the fence in front of a large group of people.

I did not stop at that point and just hurried onto the lift. There was enough of a crowd that it was hard to see what happened I think.

Me and some snowboarder dude at keystone both hit these side hits at the exact same time, and they were angled at each other so we collided midair. We both tumbled pretty hard, and then looked at each other laughed and rode away. Coulda been real bad, but we were both ok.

Oh shit. I forgot about this.

2 summers ago me and a Canadian I worked with were doing euro carves. My first run back on a board from a concussion. He's goofy, I'm regular, I think we both did heavy toeside carves in. Saw each other at the last minute and I tried to jump over him maybe, or maybe we both did or maybe we just hit. Idk. I guess we just dead stopped and fell backwards. Like there was no glancing blow in passing, just straight wall action at high speed. Well I guess not even because a wall at least wouldn't have been moving.

Anyway we hit super fucking hard. I guess you could here the sound of us smashing into each other from the bottom 3 lift towers below. I thought I rode down but I guess I got taken off on a snowmobile. Him as well. I was alright ish. Just back off the board and kind of fucked up. He had to leave the mountain for a week or two and go get checked out at the hospital. He was alright in the end and came back for the last month of the season, and ended up winning our slope.

I think that had to have been the worst person to person, and one of the worst crashes I've been in in general. Don't really remember it though.

i was waiting to hit a rail while some litter girl went off the side of the lip, as usual. So now that she's out of the way, i dropped in thinking that she was out of the way. as im mid way on the rail, the girl came back into my view and cut right across the ending of the rail, giving me no time to get out of the way. I tried to hop off the rail and go over her but i straight up just t-bagged her head. we were both fine after and skied off.

Was hitting a mini park with some sweet rollers. Went up one switch, and unfortunately on the other side there was a whole group of little kids and their instructor. Took them all out like it was bowling. No one got hurt though which was good.

Usually I'm careful about where I go, but this lady really pissed me off today in blackjack area. I'm boosting along getting ready to send the sidebooter on the other side of a curve to the moon. She was mosieing along in the middle of the cattrack and i yell at her, on your right on your right on your right, multiple times just to let her know I'll be passing her in a second. Since the turn is to the right, passing on the right made the most sense. When I'm about 10 feet behind her she decides to cut hard right and im forced to slam the brakes spraying her with snow up to her back. I ask, in not the nicest of English why she decided to suddenly cut me off, and she asked me in equally unpleasant English why I didn't pass her in the 2 seconds I started yelling at her that I would be passing on her right. At that point, ski off, and hit the rest of my jump line.

Only other time I've hit someone so far this season was when I was hitting Peruvian cattrack and a kid looked at me hit and cut across the slope into my run out with his hand raised like he was gonna give me a high five. Tried to revert to switch around him and spun him around up the hill so I wouldn't murder him. Had a good sidespinning fall. He was fine I was fine.

Honestly I'm still pissed about that woman today, that was my last run and she kept me from taking the sidehit with real speed.

earlier this season I was going through the park and I saw a lesson teacher taking his group of skiers who had probably never skied before through the park. I thought i was out of their way (they were about twenty feet away) and I did a handdrag 180 over a little bump, and I knocked a woman over as I was riding away. While I wasn't looking she had turned towards me, and although I probably should have waited for them to move on, it made no sense for them to be there in the first place.

I was skiing switch down this groomer and was turning left at the same time a boarder above me was turning right. We collided softly and as we got up I apologized, "Sorry, I guess we were both on our blindsides." She didn't get how a skier could have a blindside but rode off before I could explain.

At the bottom of my park theres a 30 25ish foot tabletop/stepup where the landing is completely blind from the run in if you gap the whole thing, landed half a meter away from a racer dad, would have probably broke something.

a buddy of mine fell pretty hard snowboarding and got a concussion, apparently he kept on riding the lift and going down the mountain with only one binding strapped in falling more, he didn't remember a thing after the crash

dumb kid started skiing across the knuckle took off the lip, lock into a shifty and look down and about 6 inches below my tails is the gapers head. (FYI, he was skiing in jeans, so he was a definite gaper)

I feel like the only time steamrolling someone is justified is when they ski across the landing of a terrain park feature.

Getting snaked rolling up to something sucks but it doesn't justify assaulting someone because you're mad. And people (especially little kids) "cutting you off" is no excuse, if you're so close to someone that you can't stop yourself from running into them that's you skiing dangerously. And jumping onto a regular run without knowing if it's clear or not is a really shitty thing to do.

Straightlined a groomer and took out an Asian lady going like 30 or 40 it was bad but she was not injured

Another time I built a little jump outside of a condo complex and a woman walking up the hill wasn't looking and I just full out decked her like blew her legs out from under her.

Not really a story where I got someone. I was teaching a lesson at my home mountain and had just done some easy glades and I was getting the kids to hit this side hit. All of them were confident enough skiers. I was standing down to the right of the hit maybe 15m away from the jump. I was waving them through 1 at a time and getting em to pull up below me. Anyways 5 kids do it fine, once kid does a 180 which I was hyped on, then the last kid comes. Hits the tiny kicker and continues to yell at me "I CAN'T STOP, HELP, HELP". I knew he could stop, we had practiced straight lining and hockey stopping before. He plows straight into me. I'm a big dude (6'1, 200lbs) so I kinda just stand there. He drops to a dead stop. He's fine but cries a bit. He complains to his parents before I can explain the situation. Kinda mad but meh...

we have a big jump at the bottom of our hill, it's next to a slope. one time i landed switch and i was looking at my friend who dropped in after me. so i didn't look where i was going. i then hit this dad with some of those salomon bbr skis. he got so fucking pissed, he said that he was going to talk to the owners and pull in my card. never seen anyone get that pissed bc of so little. i didn't even hit him hard.

about 2 weeks ago some kids skipped the lift line, i told them that they were dirtbags for skipping the line. the next lap one of the kids stopped on the jump to a rail. i told him if he didn't move i would ride over him. he told me "do it!" i then rode on him and he fell on the rail. (it was low, and he didn't fall that hard) they then got so fucking mad at me and started following me around, throwing snowballs at me. they also threatened to tell the owners. still, nothing has happened. those kids still follow me around sometimes to annoy me.

wait, he tried to pull your pass? If somebody who wasn't ski patrol tried to pull my pass I would get triggered as fuck. Fuck that.

my first day on the hill with a season pass in my gaper years, i was walking to a lift line, and two snowboarders bomb down the hill hugging eachother and screaming crash into me, i broke a boot sole plate off (they were old pieces of junk from like 1990 apparently and nordica told me they were unsafe when i called them for replacement plates). I broke my helmet (first day with it). I bit almost all the way through my tounge. My gopro mount flew off of my head (the adhesive kind). I don’t know if i blacked out but i only remember being hit and then being surrounded by like 20 people in a circle and i couldn’t talk cause i bit my tounge so hard. I somehow avoided a concussion though. Looking back on it, i was in a bad spot, but it still wasn’t my fault at all cause the snowboarders weren’t in control. We have like a 200 ft vertical, idk how you can lose control that fast.

Early season at my resort there was a super small shot of snow that was pretty much the only rock-free area on a ridge that me and my friends always use to get to the only good terrain that was open at the moment. As we are straight-lining this line, scared shitless of going slightly to the side and getting coreshots, some gape on Rossi S7s was taking his sweet time taking big s turns on the rock and grass. As we go by him, he starts to veer into the line we were on, and we barely miss him. We can hear him in the background yelling at us, so we just keep skiing. The dude starts to follow us yelling obscenities. When we stop before we drop in, the dude skis up to tell us that we are some punk kids who he is going to beat up. Then he starts sputtering about how my friend looks like a girl (he had long hair) and that we need to fuck off. As he calms down and realizes that he is threatening to beat up teenagers, he took our advice and left. We have seen him since and fucked with him and he has tried to whack us with poles n such.

pretty fun stuff

Tapped a gapers helmet when they were standing underneath in the landing out of sight a few times. Also had a miscommunication with my friend when he (unknowing to me) tried to give me a high 5 as I was doing a big handrag cork 3 off a carved jump, slammed straight into him and somehow his ski sliced open my elbow through my sweatshirt and it bled like a bitch. We yelled at each other and fought for 2 runs then we were fine lol

Fully took out this kid at Keystone last year while he was farting around in the landing and had no clue what he was doing. I remember coming down in the air and realizing that this could very well be the day that he or I ever walk again. Full on wrecked his ass and ended up breaking both my poles and my goggles cause I wacked him so hard from behind. I mean he was from Texas and on spring break so what else do you expect but still gave him a nice welcome to Colorado.

Brother wanted me to try a natural jump, and he’s pretty bad and both of us are just sending it without even knowing what it looks like. Keep in mind this is one like a blue. He goes over the little roller and i follow. He’s on his butt because he stopped for a girl, i ram my ski into his back
