has anyone on hear done any hitch hiking?

me and a friend did a little this weekend. from our ski area to a a town 12 miles away where we spent the night at a cabin. it was pretty sweet. we got picked up by some 20 something year old college girls and were just 16 and 17.

i had a screw driver with and 8" bit for defense and my friend had a knife. we figured we would be safe near a ski area up in the mountains

good job with the college girls. hitch hiking is considered dangerous these days because you only hear about the people that get kidnapped and or murdered by sick fucks. back in the 60s and 70s people used to hitch hike probably more than they took buses. Im not all down for picking up sketch ppl but I might give a skier a ride or 2 if Im with friends

lil john and i did that shit for 2 weeks a few summers ago, hike up a fuckingshitty ass hill from our campsite up to govy and then start throwing out the thumb...then do it on the way back down at the end of the day.

oh man....i try to pick up a hitch hiker every time i go to the mountain...out west its pretty laid back. i dont know how it is in the bigger towns like breck and frisco, but in the cb area, so many people are chill. my roomate hitches to work every single morning, and the longest he waits is like 5 minutes usually. so cool and easy.

yea dude as long as you're within a ski community you're prolyl fine. i heard awesome things about mammoth and alta was chill, i wish people didn't suck so much everywhere and that hitchign was still cool

I love hitch hiking. You got to spread the love and pick people up too. I always picked up the cool SOuth American kids at Squaw Valley last year. They were always super nice and appreciative. But one time I picked up this old guy who wreaked of booze and he never said a word the whole time he was in my truck. It was creepy as hell.

hitchhiking is a great way to get around for cheap or for free, and the rumors about it being dangerous are mostly a product of the fear syndrome that's taken ahold of american society lately- BE SCARED OF EVERYTHING! If you are confident in yourself and in your judgment of other people, you have no reason to be scared of hitchhiking. The way I see it, there are millions of empty seats traveling around the country every single day... why shouldn't we try to fill them up a bit? I hitch to the mountain when I need to, but also hitch for travel or for fun... sometimes it's fun to just hit the road with a backpack and a time limit in your head, and see how far you can get. It's absolutely amazing the variety of people you meet and the stories you hear - people totally open up to a hitchhiker because they know they'll never see you again. One night I had a guy drive almost an hour out of his way so he could drop me off in front of a hotel (i had been planning on just curling up somewhere on a bench), gave me a $100 bill, and drove off without a word.

i was in a car witha friend and we picked up a drunk hitch hiker he was really fucked we let him off at the side of the fire station.. thats where he wanted to go
