I noticed on the powder site they have the Hit List premier photos up. Did anyone go?

is it good or bad? or should we just hate it?

 
I saw it in Whis for the world premiere. Almost fell asleep to tell you the truth. The movie was basically 10 different people hitting the same features over and over.

i thought it was alright, they changed it up a bit... but its still MSP so ... yee. nothing really mindblowing but i thought it had a nice chill flow.

To be fair it isn't unwatchable. I liked it better than yearbook. But jesus fucking christ everyone saying "So... you got any good trips lined up" has got to be about the most irritating thing anyone has put into any ski movie ever. I'd really have to see it again to offer a review as I was sorta drunk at the premiere.

This may be a stupid question, but why does everyone hate MSP so much. I think there movies are dope, they get me really amped on going skiing.

 
Focused was sick, yearbook was kinda boring. Ski movie 3 is overrated and ski movie 1 is underrated ;)

I'm gonna have a chance to see it soon. I saw the Tangerine Dream, and it was standard TGR fare, although I have to say that Sage killed it. And - God, should I even admit this? - the snowboarding segment with Jeremy Jones was mind blowing if you like that kind of thing: super, super steep spines in AK. It will be interesting to see how MSP stacks up.

It's called skiing, stupid.
 
damn, maybe im the only one that thinks yearbook was sick, and so was focused, im supper stoked for the hit list premiere, i was planing on seeing it over Tangerine dream

yeah it was. but MSP doesnt have to drop anyone to still sell. they will get alot of busness from shop guys and people that arent NS patrons. mostly older guys that used to be "extreme" that think watching it or having it playing on a TV in there shop will make them more newschool and hip

MSP make the video a piece of art its like 75percent skiing 25 percent art. Anyone can point a camera at a pro. MSP has way sick shots, and the best skiiers in the world.

Anyone can get themselves a helicopter with enough money, too.

That's an oversimplifaction quite obviously; it takes a lot more to get good shots out of a heli than the heli itself. But I would argue that though the cinematography is excellent, the lack of artistic vision overall comes across in the final product and, unlike, say, Neil's editing, isn't very impressive "art". I don't even have to go beyond the basic concept of the movie, which seemed cheap and uninspired, to make that point. And every other film I've seen from this year has been more enjoyable and overally, I'd argue, "better" than Hit List artistically. But then I've only seen pretty damn good movies and these opinions are only a first-watch impression after numerous beers. So take it with a grain of salt... maybe.

msp is extremely good at getting amazing artistic shots. they also have very good riders. That said they slow down everything so much that it sort of seperates the viewers impression from what is actually happening. it becomes hard to appreciate that riders style, the speed and danger of a trick in extremely slow motion. it also makes it boriong

So now that people have seen it what is the word on Pollard pulling all his footage from that movie. Is it true?

Oh yeah and Focused is probably still my favorite movie and Yerbook is my least favorite. So MSP can definetly make a great movie but they tend to make shitty ones.

the thing that i dislike most about MSP, is how all their new movies try to have some level of meaning. its like they can't just admit that they are making shitty ski porn, and they definitely are not even close to making a really creative and original movie.

Hugo is one of the sickest riders on the planet and year after year he comes out with the most insane footage. There is most likely not another person that steps up to the same lines and charges them as hard as him. Also, he stomps pretty much everything.....and a real stomp. Don't rag on the "old guys".....have respect cause they rip harder than anyone else and have brought the sport to where it is at today. Fuck I am sick of all the bashing going on now on this site.

the shots in the intro of focus were super ill. the movie was alright.

CV: NO, our sport is way to inaccessible. You cant just go skiing, you need snow, mountains, expensive skis, boots, poles, goggles, clothes and then a car to even get to the mountain and finally pay way too much for a pass. Skating, all you need is a skateboard that is why we will never be “as cool.�

 
movie was okay, nothing spectacular. but thats coming from a guy who thought yearbook was really well done (minus the base jumping).

not as good as last years offering and they switched up from their "standard" template.... esentially diluting most of the skiers possible amazing segments.... Hugos' segment was dope, as was Hjorliefson's and Abma's and Pollards.... There were tons of really cool shots/lines but overall not compiled very well at all.

But hey' thats just me!

i would say that booter crunk had more interesting footage and was not nearly as pretentious. They set out to make a good ski movie and they did it, without cheezy voiceovers as i have come to expect from MSP, we already know how skiing makes us feel, and its really impossible to do justice to it in words.

Are you kidding me? Shane is amazing, and the other old guys ski lines that you'd be scared to look over the edge of. I can't believe the lack of respect for the type of skiing and mountain domination the 'old guys' put out. But if that means you'd rather ski iced over tables than wait three hours for the first tram, that suites me just fine.

 
More interesting to you mebbe but only because of who the eriders are and that they are from newschoolers. And the voice overs aren't cheesy, some people like them, its better then that lame ass rap on Tom Ellingsons part, I turned the sound off it got so annoying, it was like 5 words over and over again.

MSP uses a format for their movies that they havent changed in a fucken long time. i hate the matrix heli shit and base jump skiing is fucken pathetic. if they had one jump off a seriously crazy cliff it would be great. but all shanes segments are 10 minutes of dropping his poles half way down the run and jumping off a huge cliff. GAYYYY!!!!! I agree with everyone else, Ski Movie 3 was their highlight of the "ski movie series", global warning and others where fucken crazy back in the day. Since SM3, focused and yearbook were good movies, fun to watch but really only a few segments worth repeat watches. Just from the teaser hit list looks the same old. from peoples reviews it is. And with the rules and regulations MSP has tryed to lay on our industry its no wonder there movies suck. their goal is to stop all progression in other companies so their stagnent movies have half a chance. fuckbags

booter crunk was amazing asshole........it blew my mind i loved it it is way better then any ski movie that msp has ever made it had little park that whole KREW KILLED IT IN THE BC and on URBAN(also had a awsome sound track) so man dont even bash that movie... MSP is trying to over run all the movie companys like rage....rage made a awsome movie and give them the respect they desevre

It pretty much suck if the fact that its there worsat movie ever means anything to u. There were a few good parts way to much back country with below average skiing in it rahlves showed that he can ski better than anyone of there big mountian boys wilson,pollard, mahre, and that other kid i cant remember had good parts

 
Personally I thought it was the best film MSP has done in a few years.

They changed up there style and form a bit focusing less on just rider segments and more trip based, which was awesome.

As far as the idiot above who said ravles showed he could ski better...he skied super mellow lines. Did you even watch the film? It was awesome to hear racer like that saying how stoked he was to be on a trip like that and that he was taking it easy just watching and learning from the amazing skiers he was with. He was humble and honest.

Pep's segment was all in Russia and it was unbeliavable. Best pow segment MSP has ever done.

Hugo kills it, Hjorfeilson is awesome...and on and on.

Best stuff they have done in a while and its worth going to a tour stop even if you don't like them for various reasons.
