First off, I'm perfectly alright.

I was curious to see who else was ever hit by a drunk driver?

I was stopped at a red light on Sunday at 10p, next thing I know, I heard a loud bang and was moving forward. Once I realized I was just rear ended I made sure I was alright. I then got out of my car and see what kind of damage there was. My back end of my 2011 Fiesta was destroyed. I then saw the driver of a lifted F-250 pull over on the side of the road.

At that exact moment, a cop was driving in the opposite lane, pulled over and asked me what happened. At that moment, the F-250 started to drive away. I then informed the cop that the truck hit me and is now driving away. The cop then chased him about a mile down the road and pulled him over. Turns out he was drunk as hell.

Turns out that the guy did about $9,000 worth of damage and is going to take 28 days to fix.

While one of my friends was driving me past where I got hit, I looked and there were no tire marks. The estimated speed of the truck was 40 mph. Since I was driving a stick shift, my clutch was in, as soon as he hit me I simply rolled forward. I can't even imagine what the damage would be like if I was on the brakes when I was hit.

Anyways, anyone else ever hit but a drunk driver?

Yeah man happy you're alright that sucks balls. Lucky for the drunk guy too. He only fucked up someones car and didn't kill a family of 4 or some shit.
 
I was hit by a drunk driver inside a car wash a few years ago. I have the security video of it somewhere, I'll try and find it.
 
My biggest risk when I'm driving is most definitely drunk drivers next to moose and deer. Everyone is shit faced in western maine all the time.
 
Good to hear you are okay. Never been hit by a drunk driver but now I have justification for putting my car in neutral at lights. People always make fun of me, now I can give them a reason why.
 
but if you got rear ended while your light was red and cars were crossing an intersection at 40 mph in front of you. If you got hit in neutral with your foot off the break you would get pushed into cross traffic. That would certainly land you in the hospital if not worse. Wear your seat belts n shit.
 
Consider yourself lucky that you walked away from that. Many people havent been as fortunate.

I got hit by a drunk driver a few months ago on my way to vacation in cape cod. It was his THIRD dui and I ended up in the hostpital with a concussion, whiplash in my neck and a broken collar bone. Seriosley if there is a hell there should be a special place reserved for drunk drivers.

 
Thats what people keep saying. But how - besides my car getting fixed? I don't have any medical bills or anything.

glad to hear your ok! lots of people out here drink and drive alot (they think its cool) cant say i have ever drank and drove but.. sorry to hear that. drinking and driving is dumb. and nope! never hit by a drunk driver ... knock on wood!

I think it should be law that any drunk driver must pay a minimum of 5k to anyone they effect on top of damages/insurance/etc. It's the fucking most stupid thing to do.
 
i was hit head on by drunk teenagers leaving the hill as I was arriving. it had snowed 36in in 24 hours so i was driving rather carefully on this day (doesn't usually snow like that in MI). i saw them coming around a corner very fast and pulled onto the shoulder into a snowbank. they lost control around the corner and hit me head on. had i not pulled over they would have hit the driver side door. cops estimated the kid was doing 60+ in a 15mph resort entrance. completely totaled both cars, my engine was sitting on the ground, all airbags deployed. crazy part was not 3 feet behind my car was a huge oak tree. the cops estimated that if they had not hit my car which absorbed a lot of the impact impact, the tree would have killed all the passengers in their car. they tried to switch drivers, but a manager of sorts saw the whole crash from his car a few yards behind me. pretty sure the kid did some jail time and i could have sued him if i chose too.

don't drive drunk kids it's not worth it.
 
I was hit by a drunk driver... Get this: Turned out to be one of my really good friends who took my OTHER really good friend's car without his permission. As you can imagine, it ended up being a shit show of a case with a few torn friendships. Shitty.

but seriously its fucking stupid, and you can get away with it way to easy (if it was your first time,and you have some cash).

I got hit by a drunk crossing the street a few years back, he at least he stopped. Got out of his car and starting flipping out hard on me, I completely lost it and ending up throwing some punches and received a night in jail and a assault charge that was a pain in the ass to get dropped.

If you drive drunk and you hit someone, you have no pity and deserve to get your ass beat, along with public humiliation.

And for those of you that run away and make jokes about it later on *cough cough* you literally a piece of shit.

completely agree with this. Right now OP won't get any money from this, other than his far being fixed up- and now he's out a car for close to a month. People usually take advantage of the system and pretend to be hurt, which is fucked up, but in a situation where the driver was drunk, the person that gets hit should atleast be awarded something. OP you may be able to get some money if you take this guy to court and sue for inconvienience (suffering, IDK what you'd call it)
 
hate to be 'that guy' but aren't you supposed to keep your foot on the brake when stopped so IF you get hit you're not launched into oncoming traffic?
 
a drunk and possibly high on cocaine kid actually tried to run my friend and i over late one night. my friend and i were out for a walk, and as we were crossing the road, this kid comes flying down the road and sees us and slams on his brakes and squeals to a stop. he was obviously driving well over the speed limit and didn't realize we were more than far enough away for him to not even need to brake, but he got out of his SUV and starts yelling at us and calling us faggots, so me and my buddy are like "fuck off kid," and we continue on our walk. he gets back in his car and drives off, screaming about how we're fags. we're walking up the hill, along a bicycle path, and i notice there's light shining from behind us, so i turn to look, and there's this fucking SUV on the bike path right behind me, so i start sprinting and i yell "RUN" to my friend, we ran up the hill and he followed us some way in his SUV, shouting about how he was gonna run us over and generally just being a real nuisance. then he turned back to the road, drove to the top of the hill the right way, then drove onto the bike path again to search for us, but by then we had already ran back down the hill to my house. a little while later we saw a police helicopter flying around the neighborhood, probably searching for the crazy kid trying to kill people with his SUV. ruined our walk.
 
lol yeah cuz your brake pads will TOTALLY stop your one ton car from moving after a 4 ton truck hits you going 30+

I ended up being fine, just broke his windshield. Did the whole jump tuck n roll. and when he got out you could just smell it on him he could barley stand and fell into me which resulted in him pushed me. And me being well intoxicated myself I had a very short temper to deal with his shit. So after I was pulled off of him he told the cops he wanted to press charges and sue.

can I ask why?

if you're in an automatic, you roll forward. if you're in a manual you roll if there is any incline.

the only situation I can think of where you wouldn't keep your foot on the brake is if you know you're going to get rear ended and even then you're gonna get launched into whatever is in front of you.

getting hit by drunk driver. being okay. guy gets fined. guys insurance fixes car or gives you cash. $$$ Profit.

I got rear ended by a jeep once and it totaled his 2011 jeep. I drive a 91 toyota pick up with a steel bumper. he bent my bumper unnoticeably and put a dent in my tailgate. his insurance had to pay for the damages which was close to 2500 dollars. I chose not to fix it because the damage was hardly noticeable so i profited 2500 cash for being rear ended. His jeep was also completely totaled and he got a fat ticket for following to close. moral of the story dont drive drunk and dont drive like a fucking idiot. oh yeah and drive a yota because they are indestructible.
 
I'm really not sure, he backed up a good 30ft from inside the car wash to hit me. I couldn't see him coming at all because the curtain was covering my windshield. When I got out of my car the dude drove away. Our insurance and the police tracked him down in 2 days and he got a pretty nice ticket.
 
I got side swiped by a drunk luckily it only took my mirror and some minor dents in the car. the dude was like you hit me!!
 
Please explain because this is exactly what I thought when I put my foot on the break at a red light. Unless you're implying you can try to drive out of traffic and hopefully not get hit.

Sucks bro. At least they got the guy. Was hit by one that I remember. Wasn't driving. Luckily the driver let off the brake when he heard the tires squeal behind. Hit us hard enough to blast us into a spin and into the ditch on the other side of the road, we were about to make a left turn so our wheel were turned. Might have rolled if he was on the brakes.

Dude was drunk got arrested right there. Only was like 4 pm too. Maybe not even.
