Epic tree runs in the bc, ski caught something under the snow and diverted me straight into a tree. Foot just dangling in the ski boot. Sucked mann

That zone looks fucking sick don’t let Sammy C know where it is tho there won’t be any pillows left after he smashes them all. Heel up soon tho. That prolly hurts like a bitch
 
Been there op, your foot dangling when it shouldn’t always sucks. Just have a cigarette or something and remember to ask Your surgeon for perc’s
 
Oof. How'd your buddies do getting you out of there? Getting hurt in the backcountry keeps me up at night.
 
what was the diagnosis of fracture if you have that info available from the docs/nurses? genuinely curious but I hope for a strong recovery, OP. That must be a little painful and irritating haha.

The only thing I could think about while I was laying there for 2 hours was how they were going to get the boot off. When I got to the hospital they said they can't cut it. So they put me to sleep and manually removed it. When I woke and the boot was off I was stoked.

I was about 200m from the road so the car was close by. I was 2nd to drop so my mate behind me came to me first and gave me his jacket and made me a back rest. My other mate went to the car and grabbed extra puffer jacket and a sleeping bag. The chopper couldn't land or drop off the paramedic because of the terrain and wind so he had to hike up with the toboggan. My mates were really cold too so they ended up doing laps up and down while we waited. They are legends for sure. I'm glad they were there. I had some collie budz playing. I snapped both bones clean through.

Mystery solved. Best to you, and heal up well. The bone should be stronger than before.

Did you get a rod, or just plates?

I still have 10 screws and a plate at my tibial plateau! Like 6 of those screws are 3 + inches long!
 
The surgeon just said screws, I'm getting another x Ray tomorrow so hopefully I get to check it out. Norwegian hospital man I was luckily things got taken care of quickly.

Good for you! They have a great system over there.

I was told because my bones well long ago fully grown, that to remove the hardware was only another surgery risk, so there they will stay.

My friend got an ulcer from advil cause his mom took away his oxy after ankle surgery
 
Vibes brotha! I'm Headed in for ACL reconstruction on Friday, 3rd time under the knife for a ski injury.... comin back stronger than ever fam !
 
Yeah the rod follows the whole tibia. Not many parts which is good. They said they couldn't get the bone to line up so this should be okay. The bone will join however it pleases haha.

taking the hardware out when you can is probably a smart idea. I got pins and plates but one screw was a bit to long and rubbed against my Achilles. got inflamed every fuckin day. good luck bro, heal up quick!
 
bummer bro! best wishes on a speedy recovery. I had the same break in 2010. Not fun but I did make a full recovery. Would recommend getting the rod removed whenever possible if you wanna keep sending.
 
Damn okay I hadn't actually taked about that with the dr. I'm in a hotel now. What's the recovery like after the removal? Just incision pain or are the muscles farked?

My leg was sore for a few days but nothing major. Doc advised that doing any kind of damage or bend in the rod would hurt way worse than the original break so I was happy to get it out. I think it was about 18 months after initial surgery so no rush for you. They use a gnarly reverse hammer kind of thing to yank it out. Search youtube for tibial rod removal if you wanna see how it's done. They gave me the rod after it came out. I've always wanted to make a lamp or something out of it
