Hills making snow...except for one...

So this morning i hop on to aftons website and see that they are blasting snow (infact they made it all day today) so i got super excited and figured welch would be going at it as well (i live approx. 5 mins away if the roads aren't snowy) so i jump in the car and head on down...i get there and NOTHING...there isn't any guns running at all...so i was majorly bumed

So tonight at 11:15 my girlfriend and i are driving home and its snowing and i'm like "lets go past welch and see if they are making snow" ... we get there and guess what?!?! nothing!

Now i know that nobody is the head snowmaker down at welch, but can someone tell me that if all the other places are blowing snow...why cant welch blow it? it just doesn't make sense especially since afton made it all day.

oh well i just really needed to let off some steam cause i'm just dissapointed cause they do this every year.

they are just so stupid...they have people there all day long its like...its not that hard to figure out that all the other places are opening up and just letting the snow fly.

 
yeah i drive down every day and try to see the progress...its really depressing to know that every where else is rollin...but they arent
 
Last night it was pretty humid though, It takes a cold water supply to defeat humidity at marginal temps like last night. We made snow but it didnt amount to much. Some times its not worth the money spent. But this time of year its crusial to put every ounce of snow on the ground to get the joint open, As far as having pump issues. That shit should have been dialed in weeks ago. Thats like showing up late to a free kegger.
 
exactly, they can open almost the whole resort in like 3 days of snow making, i mean you can rip on welch all you want for not opening but they are like the only resort still investing money into new snow making equpiment...

as far as the pumps not being dialed in, it would be kind of hard to have them dialed in weeks ago because they just got them put in about a week ago...they were busy all summer long putting in bigger pipes for water so that they can pump twice as much water, and they just finished the project by putting in 3 new pumps
 
yeah by far the best snow making in the midwest...any word on what you guys are going to have set up on thursday? i heard some rumors about having a dfd by opening day but i doubt it.
 
I love welch. We have worked so hard to get it to where it is now. I am not sure what will be set up opening day, probally not much unless Landon gets out there and helps them out because I will not be there the night before on behalf of 2 exams on friday. Sorry guys.
 
Yeah I'm really sick of "we will open only with good conditions."

For the love of god this is the midwest, you are going to have a week or two of crap conditions no matter when you open, just get it over with.

Park is gonna be sick this year though.
 
Hopefully lando can get out there...and who cares right? its mound season...everyone knows mound season is the best time at welch :)

and just for to let you know tony...i was just frusterated wtih welch...ha that place is my home in the winter...i guess it doesn't help that i drive past it every day on my way home from school hah
 
wild plans to be open 100% by this saturday. just thought I'd let everyone know. the first park set is coming SOON!!!!!!
 
welch should have alot of runs open...atleast one whole side i mean tomorrows high is 30 degrees that calls for snow making pretty much all day.
 
trolls park opened on sunday because they have like big cannons permanantly mounted. theyr not like the pussy sprayer ones... their the ones tht look like barrels
 
So hah...after seeing welch tonight...i take back any comments in this thread...that snow making they have now is insane...i've never seen that before its like a freakin blizzard down there.

I can second that comment...by friday - saturday...welch should be fully open!

hmmm not to positive on features...you'll have to see what Tony (TSEYFFER) says...he's a member of the park crew and they help get everything set up...i'm guessing a few rails...but hey its mounds season...mounds never get old...and they are only around for a short amount of time.
 
There was a fun little left side quarter/hip on the far west side of the hill, above the cabins, last year that was a good time. My knee hurts. Injuries suuuuck.
 
i drove by spirit tonight and there blowing snow all over so it looks like they will be set for the weekend
 
right on...thats good to hear...

its looking like all places should be blowin snow for a while... perfect temps for atleast a week
 
not sure what is going to be up, i was not able to go to welch last night, too much studying to do, but landon possibly set some stuff up
 
yeah i talked to landon on the phone yesterday and he said we will just have little stuff....but ill be down there tommorrow at 1200 im pumped !!!!
