Hiking Stowe

I was up at stowe 3 weeks ago and hiked the summit from the top of the quad, it was pretty good, but the trail never really opened up, and it got pretty icy and exposed as it finally did open up by the top, where else is good to hike, especially off the gondola, which way is the easiest to go up?

be carefull up there, a skier was filming on monday at stowe and is slough pushed him over some cliffs and he died. everybody be careful.

don't get lackety

^Dude, seriously show some respect. This guy fell off a cliff in the Smugglers' Notch area because he got pushed off from some slough. This guy died doing the thing he loved

you know dspin...people like you are the lowest form of shit on this earth. I'm sure the guy who died probably knows people from this site, and here you are mocking his death. Karma's a bitch mother fucker

Oh please show me one spot where I mocked him. I was mocking you fucking morons that cant get the facts straight. Come on, show me one spot where I made fun of the guy that died. Im making fun of you east coast fools that shouldnt be skiing that kind of terrain, stick to your groomed rail runs.

I mean honestly 1500 feet to his death? Most areas in vermont arent even that big. And slough? The article clearly said it was a slab avalanche....so no on the slough to. HOnestly you east coasters dont know shit about mountains so stick to the park.

dspin=asshole, this guy did know his shit. He's been out west many times, taken the proper safety courses, and carried the correct safety equipment. You don't know him or do you know his knowledge of safety in the mtns. It could happen to ANYONE, ANYWHERE! And by the sheer fact that you are mocking east coasters, your are mocking his skill and his mtn ability. Again, show just a bit of respect for something you know ZERO about

seriously man WHAT THE FUCK is your problem....i have no idea why you think this is an oppurtunity to make jabs at the east coast...i knew this guy, and have been filming with meathead this year, and by no means does anybody deserve your bullshit....so what if kids have the numbers wrong...thats not important...what is important is that this guy died doing something that we all love, and regardless of where the fuck he lived you should pay him some respect...i honestly dont see why your trying to fucking be cool and talk shit about this....fucking die

********************

witty cent is now live on stage!

Oh yeah but making death threats is much more cool.... Anyway who cares if he 'died doing what he loved' Im so sick of hearing that phrase. Youre still dead and cant ski anymore so whats the difference if you died skiing or died in a plane crash? Youre still dead and have no recollection of anything....sooooo whats youre point? Oh thats right, you dont have one.

dspin...all I can say is that I've never met/heard anyone who is as insensitive as you. If you don't have anything good to say, DON'T! Like I said before, there are NSers on here who knew the dude and you show them and him no repsect. I'm sure they want to hear your ramblings about how east coasters shouldn't venture where you all-mighty west coasters go, and that we should all stay on groomers. Way to spread the love man. Were you abused as a child?

I'm done with your insensitive ass. People like you should've been aborted prior to birth

If u want to ski some good woods hike the chin and ski the brook,or go to big spruce and ski the b-day bowls but both of them u hav to walk the road back to the mountain.

dspin

Mocking someone who died is just about the

MOST horrible ting you can do. i dont care if its on

ns, your a jack ass. not only that, but you continue

to do so. Are you that stuck up that you refuse

to apologize about making fun of someone death,

to people who knew him? youre pathetic

i hope that there are not many people in this world

like you, or i dont know if want to be around here

i'm probably on the same page as you, but which ones are the bday bowls? i've heard 40+ different names for everything on spruce that goes into the notch.

are u guys talking about the canyon between mansfield and smuggs?....theres i road that runs between there in the summer but it gets closed off in the winter, ive never been out there but it looks pretty sick

the meathead that died was named alec stall. i knew him and his family personally. he was the nicest guy i've ever met and it's a real shame. my parents are actually at his funeral today and i would have gone but i had to go to school. i appreciate all of the respect you guys are showing for him.

skifiend, after freeskiers 1 ride comment, i know where you're talking about. we did all that area last friday after the so called dump. it definitely doesn't get much better than that...except i got home at 5, slept till 8, happy hour at 8 30, back to bed by 9 30 and up at noon the next day. that was by far one of the most tiring days i've had in a long time.

the one thing that stops me from actually gps mapping that area out (call me a nerd...it's cool) is people who shouldn't be in that area finding out that that stuff is back there. the best thing to happen at smuggs is when they took the ski area boundary sign and moved it from sterling pond to the actual entrance to the trail to the pond. it keeps a LOT of people out of there.

freeskier, when did they get rid of the 1 ride out from smuggs? i abused the hell out of it last year. this year i gave up and got a smuggs pass instead.

i got 1 free ride at smuggs last year 3 times, u just gotta talk to the ticket people and be nice
