is it worth a four hour car ride.i have off thursday fri and monday off. i see they have been getting some snow/making a good amount. i am just think how many runn you probably get in before you are dead tried from hiking

A friend of mine drove 8 hours from PA to hike Killy last Sunday. Conditions were not deep pow, but more like man made hard pack. Still a good time though. I assume there will be a ton of snow made by thur/fri of this week so I would say maybe worth it, but I believe Mt. Snow is opening this weekend so that might be a better bet.

Mt Snow is trying to open this weekend, so that would be more worth it, but hiking Killington isn't that bad. The sun sets there so early, so it gets icy quick. It isn't getting warm at all, so it just may stay one huge ice sheet, which would not be fun. If Mt Snow is open, go there.

I just got Killington's most recent newsletter this morning - The Drift. They are asking that no one hike Killington, as they're working hard to get it open as soon as possible, and there is machinery all over the place.

"Our snowmaking crews are working around the clock to build base depths on the upper sections of Killington Peak as we prepare for opening day on Friday, November 16. Currently, we’re making snow on Rime, Reason, Double Dipper, Rim Run and Great Northern as we are working our way down to the K-1 base.

With hundreds of snow guns, high-pressure hoses, snowmobiles, snowcats and heavy equipment moving about the mountain, maintaining a safe working environment for our staff is the number one priority. As a result, we respectfully ask that those seeking to “earn their turns” refrain from doing so until opening day.

We’re planning on offering Blue Square and Black Diamond terrain for opening day accessible by the K-1 Gondola. No Green Circle terrain will be available. All skier/rider services will be available at the K-1 Lodge."

They don't say that they will kick people out who hike, but it seems they will at the very least frown upon it.

I hiked last friday, and if the sun is not on it, it will be one ice sheet. but i may go up again this friday
