So some friends and I are thinking about taking on Elbert, then skiing down where we can. Obviously snow conditions and weather are the primary concern for this, but does anyone have any advice of any kind? I understand that this is not going to be a cake walk, but give me what you got.

Go to 14ers.com and look at some of the forums, there are experienced guys who mountaineer a lot of them. You typically can't limit yourself to one 14er, never know how the conditions are going to be. Just keep an open mind and please please please bring someone who knows what they're doing....

i have skied elbert in early june. Its a good one to pick for sure. Short hike, good vertical. i would definitely wait until spring. i skied basically directly off the north side, it was sweet got to ski most of the way back down then ended up in a wild valley with a short walk back to the road. Probs may is the month to do it. I think one of the better bang for your buck 14ers around, such easy access. let me know if you have any questions
