Hight of your skis

I know that this question is kinda stupid, but why freestyle skis must or should be about your height? cause when u think logically it's easier to spin etc. on shorter skis. Thanks for replies

some one here is going to say "steeze factor" and i think thats about the only reason

Shorter skis are easier to spin, but a linger ski provides a larger platform of stabability for the rider.

Longer skis are more stable in the air, on rails, and on landings.

Shorter skis are easier to spin, and can carve toghter(depending on side cut)

that and they seem to think that if you center mount your skis, they are perfect gor skiing all mmountain. but you do need longer skis for center mounting.

i think that the ski should be as tall as you, even as low down to your eyebrows. it can be a bit above you too.

Long = stability at speed and on landing.

Short = less spin weight.

It's all about finding a happy medium, what you feel comfortable.

Also length will give you a much more advantage while charging or skiing powder - if you can handle the ski that is. Length will either be a benfit or a tragedy.

im like 5'6" and i am gonna ride 176 which are just over my head i cant wiat i feel so much better on longer skis centered

Sometimes i ski i 171, and sometimes i ski the 176, and i'm 6fter...

It's all persocal, like i've learnt not to land to back seat, and they're fine for me

I am 6'1" 170 lbs and ride a 171 invader (center mounted, naturally) in the park. Most people would say that is too short, but it works great for me. In fact, my 6'5" 190lb brother rides my old Chronic 172s, and he rips just fine in them.

Long story short, few cm shorter or longer (+ or - 5 cm or so) isn't going to affect performance greatly.

wow thats like the opposite of me. im 5'9 and like 130 and im gonna be on center mounted 177 chronics. all preference i suppose.

im 5'6 and i had size 148 skis this season.

for 07/08 im gonna get in the 170-176 range.

if i could have it my way, i'd still rock a 148. but if i do then i'll get hate, so i gotta upgrade

uhhhh, no. nice try tho. it really doesn't matter, like that one guy said, +-5 cm doesn't mean shit, its mostly just the riders ability.

168's will be more than enough of a ski for you too learn on man. how old are you? becasue you even have some room to grow or if u are done growing you should still be fine. pm me if u have any questions.

^ i agree with what he said..depending on your growth and your ability you think you will be at 168 should easily be plenty

meh my 182 foils only come up to my eyes. but im also tall as hell so its hard for me to find skis much longer than that

if you have short skis its going to be hard to do steezy grabs

but if you have your height in a ski and center mount you have perfect grabbing radious

ya longer is better

last year i rode hella short skis and now im gonna ride 176 which to some people may still be short for my height

shorter skis are easier to throw around but a lota skis these days are super light so if they are real easy to manouver too even if they are longer.

thats a good way to go. Do what will impress others, not what will impress and please yourself.

I know when I post videos this upcomming season, im going to get hated on alot. But really, I dont care. Its thier narrow mindedness thats keeping them from realizing whats really happening.

Do what you want, not what will please others.

Well I am 5 8 and 150. I rock the 07-08 Seth's in a 179 at a +4 mounting. I love them and I use that size for all-mountain.
