Highest Concentration of Talented skiers?

I'd say from first hand experience, either SLC, Tahoe,Jackson or Whistler. Ever since I moved to Utah I've been blown away, every other skier out here is a fucking ripper. Lots of talent in Tahoe aswell and I havn't made it up to BC yet but I hear it's similar up there.

So I assume skiers truely are products of their environments. The gnarlier the terrain available, the better the skiers an area produces.

I moved to austria this year and im blown away. they kill it here, in every aspect in skiing. So i definetly agree with you in terms of where you ski can shape a skier, but there are always exceptions.

jackson for all around skiing- big mtn. and park. the kids over there grow up ripping, and lots are dropping corbets coulor by 10 yrs. park city has a lot of good park kids.

I have not lived in Jackson, Utah, or Whistler, but when you ski squaw everyday you see people, famous and not, who will blow your mind. In late April/early May of 03 I saw Tom Wayes do a line in the Chimney called Pony Express which was absolutely insane. The sickest thing I have ever seen on skis. Even on days where there is no powder you see guys killing it all over KT, the light towers, etc. I am sure Utah, Jackson and BC are the same way. As far as overall talent, I would think it would have to be one of those four places. When you ski sick, steep terrain everyday, you really get good.

I'll go aheda and say for a single mountain, non mammoth/PC (everyone moves there), Waterville Valley.

Tahoe has always been strong, with many rippers from Spuaw, KW, Alpine Meadows, etc..

I have a feeling Mammoth is coming up with alot more people. It always had a huge pack of sick locals..but there are some kids in the park that are really stepping things up.

lots of the smaller mtns have serious rippers (smaller as in less popular) because they tend to be locals vs. tourists

Quebec for park, Quebec for freestyle, and more and more, even quebec in race... so yeh..Quebec..and big mountain as well with guys like Hugo and PY!

well, no. not for big mountain. you can't tell me quebec has one of the highest concentrations of talented big mountain skiers.

whatever. slc/pc by far has the sickest/steeziest skiers around. they may not all be from here, but if you were to ski park city/snowbird for a week, you would completely understand. no doubt tahoe, quebec,bc, and eastcoast have many good riders. but fuck that shit, pc's riders are outta control ill and push shit more quickly than i have seen in one area.

word 2 the kids at PC.

I'm always impressed by the level of skiing at Taos, SLC (everywhere), Telluride, and Crested Butte. Every once in a while I'll go to A basin and see some really sick rippers.

Are you f'ing serious.

Crested Butte is some of the most gnar terrain in CO (or the west for that matter).

There are tons of rippers up there.

As said multiple times before, good terrain makes good skiers. So just think of the gnarliest mountains around, and that's where you'll find the best skiers. Or for freeride, the best parks.

I don't know about anymore, but back before snowboarding took over the Cascades like an STD Mt. Hood and Mt. Baker had tons of great talent.

I've only skied the east coast a few times, but have been almost everywhere there is to go in the Rockies. The most fun I've ever had skiing has always been around SLC/Park City, but you get spoiled with great snow.

The cold white cement and cake batter that falls from the skies in the northwest will definitely make you a better technical skier, lol.
