Seneca Boards, a Bozeman based custom ski manufacturer will introduce a super light carbon fiber backcountry ski next year for the 2016 season. Ahead of schedule this year, we decided to do a pre-release for the backcountry enthusiasts still getting after it! The first 50 will be sold for $200 off, hand signed and numbered by the designer.

They look interesting... What's the weight @185?

just over 4 lbs for an aggressive flex at 185 with the hybrid. Just over 3 lbs for the full carbon, same flex. I think with a little more R&D going into next season we will break the 3 lb mark - our prototypes have come back as light as 2.2 lbs. Our goal is for a ski designed to ski downhill more than uphill, vs. some of the ultralight touring skis that really lack performance, but are super light for skinning. They are also pretty fat skis at 110mm in the waist, similar skis of width and length weigh roughly 1 lb more per ski

I have a pair of all mountain skis that the backcountry ski was partially based on (shape wise) and love them! Even without the carbon fiber, the maple/poplar core and BPS sidewalls make the skis super light. Awesome work guys, go Bozeman!

Sounds rad. I like the emphasis on it still being a downhill ski thatll shred. Cant wait for final results on protos

Oh hell yea! ive been lookin for a new set of back-country weapons! and if u can customize em them yea, im in!

I'm looking to get into backcountry this coming season and would love to support a business from my state. This looks sick!

From your press release:

"Carbon fiber is roughly twice as strong as steal, and 1⁄4 the weight. But using it correctly is difficult, which is why we are only now seeing it used by mainstream manufacturers, such as DPS skis and the Volkl V-Werks."

Maybe do a bit more homework before asserting that only the mainstream manufacturers are using carbon fibre. That's straight up wrong.

For a Literature major your reading comprehension is disappoint.

"We are only now seeing it used by mainstream manufacturers"

Nothing about only mainsteem manufacturers using carbon fiber.

That said, there are less than a handful of ski companies that are using carbon fiber past 5% of its potential.

Yeesh, that's my bad. Thanks for catching that. Apologies for any ill will my inability to read has created--I'm going back to look through my Hooked On Phonics and see what I missed there.
