High schoolers, how do you pass the day by?

Junior year in high school is coming up and my stoke level is a solid 2/10.

I know theres always 1 or 2 classes that are actually pretty chill, but how does one get by all the other ones and still pass the class?

What gets you high schoolers through the day? How do you tune out that one teachers who talks to all the class like their 5 years old? How you do make it to the end of the day and not be burned out?

I need to know or this year is gonna be hell.

Thanks

I keep in mind I get free education.

There's bigger problems than having to sit in a classroom for a few years, just try to actually listen and you'll be surprised by how fast time goes.

Just fuck around. Mess with people. A classic is shoot rubberbands at friends. Sounds like 4th grader fun, but it gets the job done.

well...im gunna be a senior and i feel the same way but i always end up paying attention and actually listening because if you are tuned out most of the time it ends up biting ya right back in the ass

I love to learn, don't get me wrong. Learning is a beautiful thing.

However, public schools have taken such a marvelous and beneficial thing, killed it, and shove it down students throats.

Learning things in the real world, in nature, on ski forums, from your parents friends and family, thats how we should all learn. Not from a standardized machine turning 100's of thousands of kids into the same thing each year.

I don't hate like school because its "hard" It's that I don't like school because everything we learn is not unique information. It's stuff that every kid over the age of 19 that passes their core classes already knows. If everyone in America knows the same thing, how can it be valued? How can it make you happy or make you money? The only people who ever rise above the population are the ones who have valuable skills and information to offer to the public. Public American high schools do just the opposite of that.

Steezy, i went to a private school which gave alot of freedom to which classes you wanted to take, and i learned alot of shit that had no place on the sat.

Either way theres plenty of shit taught in classes that will be interesting to anybody who has a baselime level of curiosity, and teaching valuable things like physics and math is something that should be taught to everybody.

College and post grad is a good time to specialize, so theres plenty of time for that later for people who want to differentiate themselves.

Also there are alot of high schools that teach specialized useful courses afaik. Hs isnt that bad

You get to spend 6 hours a day in a building with nearly everyone you've ever known and liked. I assure you, life will never be easier.

Im the same age as you homie and im pissed about school starting soon haha, i just basically turn into a vegetable and think about how shitty football practice is gonna be lol

its really not that bad, holy shit, some of you hype this shit up like youre going to prison. knock it off. just go to class, fuck around with friends and it will cruise by like you dont even know.

Online Schooled. Go skiing after work and bring laptop with. Go skiing for an hour come in and do a class. Go skiing again for an hour, come in and do another class and so on. Oh and Free WIFI.

Dude high school was the shit...you spend your entire day doing minimal work and hanging out with your friends all day. You are REQUIRED to do awesome shit like gym class. just make sure your grades are up to par.

This is A* grade bullshit. How are you supposed to know 'unique information' if you can't handle the basics? I'm in my tenth year of studying chemistry and I'm not taught unique information, even in the past two years when I've only been studying chemistry.

See the thing is, not everyone in America knows that kinda thing. People drop out for all kinds of reasons, and loads just don't have access to the same level of education (schools in poor areas are almost always dreadful schools). You're not being turned into some kinda machine, the only machines are the mouth breathers that stack shelves in wall mart. You have the opportunity to do better than that, and the first step is doing well at school. Sure the public school system could and should be much better, but it's what you've got and it's so much better than nothing.

I didn't really work that hard through school, I just cruised through but now I'm in a world top 100 university studying a subject I am starting to lose interest in. I don't care though. University is awesome, it's more fun as school and you're completely free. I'm doing well in my degree (high 2:1 classification, about a 3.8 GPA, not quite sure about the conversion) and I could potentially do anything I want from where I am. Investment banking, law, medicine, teaching, politics, whatever.

Others in here.... fuck is that dolan making a completely reasonable point?

Stare outside the window thinking how much better your life would be if you were skiing

I understand life could be much MUCH worse. In fact I think about that daily. I see myself as being a positive person and have been told I have a good attitude about most things. It's just school has been a part of my life for, well, my entire life! I just want to experience something new, ya know?

Maybe it's not so much school itself, but doing the same thing every day is what gets on my nerves. I will admit the first few weeks are actually pretty nice. Seeing all your friends every day and goofing around in class is missed over the summer, for sure.

I guess what I was trying to say was, how can I make the day more fun?

School does in fact have a lot of upsides. I see myself as well as friends laughing and smiling every day. I see friend ships start. School's okay. It just bugs me that it could easily be so much better, to where every student could love to learn and enjoy themselves rather than dread every moment.

I apologize for sounding like "that guy", and I appreciate the comments, weather you disagreed or agreed with me.

It's not gonna be fun. You're just gonna have to deal with that. There are a lot of things people have to do in life that aren't fun, but absolutely need to be done. Getting an education is one of those things, but working hard at it will increase your chances of landing a job you enjoy in the future.

don't you just sit in the class, listen to the lecture or assignment, and wait for the bell to ring?

you do know that the point is to learn something, right?

I had some pretty hot females as my instructors this past year so i had no troubles

wish i could've said the same. but try to take some classes that challenge you. i found easy classes to be the ones that were the most boring. working hard helps the time pass

If you pay attention in class, you don't have to study for tests and hwk is much easier. Fucking around in class is actually a complete waste of time because you'll pay for it when you are doing any work for that class outside of the classroom

I hate school but at the sometime I love it. You have to try and make the best out of every class. Believe it or not, my sophomore math class was probably the most fun. Get involved in your school and try to make friends in a class if you none of your buddys are in that 1

and maybe even become harvard educated like me

whats your concentration just curious?

dont all you high schoolers now a day have smart phones. look at thing all class.

Or you could not be an ass hole and pay attention and get educated.

That's horseshit. Stop being one of those fucks who just wants to be different just because

Being a junior this year as well I will be looking at tits, butts and thinking about skiing and how much school sucks. I have 3 weeks and theyre all full of soccer and I am quite pissed

Don't be them

Deal with it, realize that high school doesn't fucking matter, try and have some fun while you're there, and realize that it will be over soon and you can do whatever the hell you want.

High school is meh, but it's not that long. It seems like an eternity while you're stuck there but once you get out time starts to fly. In that sense high school is almost cool in that way. It kind of drags that period of your life on for a little instead of the years after where "poof" and they're gone.

Just don't take it to seriously
