The insurance ran out and they just didn't renew it. I think it's pretty much the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

Mike douglas told me that they didn't know they had to renew it, szocs was on the ball and then the insurance company fucked them over and just dropped their coverage. I hope they didn't just let it run out due to lack of brains.

omg, they better fucking be doing something for the campers, id be so fucking pissed if that was me, i think i would unleash on someone!

 
According to a mountain employee High North had been operating since June 24th without insurance and probably would have continued to do so until they got caught. Also, no sane person would not know that they had to renew their insurance. It's Shane's company and he's been running it for the last 5 years or so, you can't tell me he didn't know that he had to have insurance. He fucked up royally and he payed for it.

As far as the campers that got screwed over, apparently all they were offered in return for a ruined session was a discount on next years camp. To me that would be a slap in the face but I guess most of the campers are so star struck that they wouldn't question Shane. All I know is that if I spent $1600 to go to a camp and it was basically cancelled for half the time I wouldn't go back next year I would want a pretty damn big refund.
