High North Ski Camp?!

I am thinking about going to high north this summer. have any of you gone or are any of you going, and if you are, which session. i also wanna know which session i should try to get into.

I'll stick my renob in your elohssa

I went last year and had the best time of my life, I can't afford to go again this year though I'm afraid. I would advise you try and get into one of the middle sessions (i.e. 2 or 3) as if you go too early not everything is set up yet and if you go too late they're seriously hurting for snow.

what is ski camp like anyways. I've never been, like what is the curriculum for everyday. i have the general idea of the fact that we ski and do tricks...

I don't know about other camps but at high north you get up to the hill by 9 or 9:30 and then take a few laps and stretch for a while. Then you spend about 2 hours or so with your coach for the day (you have a different one each day) lapping the park doing whatever your group feels like doing. Then you have lunch for an hour or so, after which you have the remainder of the afternoon to do pretty much whatever you want, usually there are various clinics going on in different areas of the park. Sometimes your coach will opt to keep the group together for the afternoon as well but it's up to you what you want to do and who you want to ride with. After that you do various off-hill activities with the coaches (you sign up for them the night before), these include water-ramping and tramps, mountain biking, soccer etc. After that you all go out for dinner and then you have the evening to yourself until bedchecks (I can't remember when those were exactly as I had my own room and no bedchecks as I was 21 at the time but I think it was 10:30). Don't be too put off by the whole bed check thing if you're under age though as they were pretty sporadic and half-assed. If you're smart about it you can still do all the drinking and blazing you want to.

i used to always think it wasnt worth the money, but now that they pay for like all the meals and stuff, and everything is pretty much taken care of, i realize its all good, its just a bunch of paper with numbers on it anyways.........

Yeah, thats what I was wondering. Is it worth the money?

At www.skican.com you can get like, 2 april trips to whistler from toronto, for 7 nights, $1000 each, everything paid for, including flight from toronto. For the same money, you get the ski camp, and no flight out. I dunno, I'd have to see how awesome the camp is.

its seriously worth it, i went last year and now i have to work all summer long 50 hours a week to pay for it this year and theres no question, ill do anything to go, its so sweet

I went to session 2 last summer and it was probably one of the most fun weeks of my life. I seriously wanna go again but i kinda spent all my money on drugs... but I'm working so i still might go if i manage to save up enough. Definitely go to session 2 or 3, everything is set up and the snow is plentiful.

Ya its pretty fun. I defintly wouldn't pay for it AGain though.... if you have the money then ya its cool fun time but if its too much its moree progressive to get a trip of skiing for 2 weeks by yourself, its not a miracle to ski with pros.. just cool.

You guys who have been to high north: How big are the jumps that you mainly hit? I'm used to hitting about 25-35 foot tables.

well me and my chick were gettin busy at her place when her parents were gone, we were in the basement so she says to go upstairs and get a condom and im naked and i obviously ran to go get it, it was dark as hell too so on my way back downstairs i missed the last 2 steps and fell flat on the ground with an boner, i was so lucky - Lateralis

both. it snowed 6 inches the first night at the summit, and it iced one day, and drizzled another. anything can happen up there

jman there's a really good assortment of tables, they have a rythm section of small tables and also a medium sized table and a pretty big (I'm guessing 60 feet or so) as well. You don't have to hit anything you don't want to and it's set up in such a way that you can easily work on smaller tables and work your way up as you get more confident.

It seems like most of the camps are different in this, but whats the lodging like at high north? I was looking on the website and it looked like 4 or 5 people in a big room thingy?

-JMAN-

we had 4 people in our room, the rooms are pretty nice. they have balconies too which come in handy

the hellmuth it gets like 40s up on the glacier some days, and the rooms are more like small condos, we had 5 people in ours, 1 2 bedrooms with a bunk bed in the living room, and a full kitchen

k seriously, i paid for half of my session, it is a LOT of money, but it is worth EVERY penny! It was probably the best week of my life, between skiing, chilling with pros, meeting new ppl, and fucking partying in whistler you cant really beat it. I learned so many new tricks that week it was really priceless! This eyar im trying just to go up to whistler for liek a month, but it definatly wont be the same
