Has anyone here gone to this? I am thinking about asking to go to a session for Christmas, and I want to know how good it is.

From what I hear it wasnt really shanes fault at all. HN is sweet, you learn a lot, have a ton of fun and ski with tons of chill people.

how did shane screw stuff up? i heard high north is pretty sweet...i went to SMS myself, also a great camp.

 
Before people start arguing about this, there's a thread that goes into this argument already.

There was a problem with insurance last summer. September 11th put all the camps into hot water, and high north did get shut down for three days.

Shane has made some partnerships that will allow him to run his camp problem-free this summer. High North will be back, better than ever, and problem-free.

If you hear anything different, it's wrong.

I'm over it.

 
yeah high north is the best camp on the glacier hands down. Best QP, insane hip 3 linking mini tables a medium table with a gauntlet run to get to it and a huge 50 footer. also the craziest rails on the glacier. And the pipe we had last year was the best kept pipe on the glacier. It was a killer camp. Your lucky if you get a session for christmas thats mighty exspensive.

Thanks for the input. If I did ask for it, I would probably be paying half. The only bad thing is I would be the only person I would know..... eh

No worries on not knowing anyone. It is a super mellow and friendly atmosphere, you'll meet a ton of cool peeps. I would ask for it from Santa, or Hanuka Harry, or the Kwanza Man.

I think most people come alone. Everyone is so chill tho and they have the same passion as you, no problem with that.

going alone seemed alrigth kuz u r with people that ski and jib and whatever...btu i wnet with a bunch of people and it ruled...

 
HN is sweet, the skiers are chill and its just a cool atmosphere. U can learn a ton too.

I went alone last summer and i think it was actually better than going with friends cause it give you more oppourtunities to meet new ppl and make new connections and shit... you wont make a bad decision by going to HN, its ths shit, thats all i can say its just the shit ...

What the hell were they doing with a car on the moon?... havent they gone far enough?
 
Any camp you go to will be worth it. HN SMS and COC all have great coaches and terrain. scope them out and see which coaches you would want to ride with.

 
yea man check em all out, while crusin thru the town i met a bunch of people goin to HN while i was at CoC and they loved it as much as i loved it so they're all good

if possible go for 2 sessions, because the first session your still wobly and your just getting to know things.the second week is when you start learning.

first off, high north is KICK ASSSSSSS. i went with 2 buddies but there were like 8 total people from my hill. this summer i'm going for sesh 3 and 4, so anybody else going then let me know.

and second, MD is right, it's not shane's fault at all. after 9-11 the insurance agency changed their policy and the camp wasn't aware that they were on a different policy than before and somebody, they're not sure who, ratted them to the FIS, and they made a big deal about it.

ast year i went to dave murray, and decided it's not wut i wanted. I am headin to hight north this summer 4 sure. Most of the peeps will prolly be better than me but that's a good way to improve i think.

 
Ok I REALLY don't want to get into this again but Mad_Trixx you're not right. What Doug (MDFresh) said was perfectly correct, but you must have some misinformation. ANYWAYS, High North will for sure be killing it again on the glacier this summer so for all those interested, the new HN website will be up soon @ highnorthskicamp.com.

Don't worry about it. Camp atmosphere is super chill and there are skiers of all abilities. There is always something for everyone to get stoked on and learn tons. Sick coaching staff, (last summer: Shane Szocs, Mike Atkinson, Shannon Schad, Pep Fujas, Chris Turpin, Mark McDonnel, Julian LaForge, Shane Anderson, Peter Olenick, Marc Abma, Josh Loubeck, and more), fresh barbeque and ( only one on the glacier), private chef on hill, the sickest, most buffed-out lane on the glacier, Ah hell, look on the website soon and learn.

 
and when he says private chef, he means private gourmet chef. crab legs, lobster, 12 oz. steak, pastas, it was actually quite amazing. camp was the best time i've ever had. that would be the best christmas present in the world.

Okay, even if I don't get it for christmas I'm still going. I go to Lacrosse camp every year and thats 300, so my parents will pay that or more. Hopefully I will make enough money at my job, if I don't go Proform crazy. What session is evryone going to this year?

yeah i liked atkinson, hes the funniest guy too, i went to session 3 last summer and lucked out cause i had THE best weather out of the camps history (so they said) so im def going tyat session again, depends what you want tho, i heard 4 is really good

i went to SMS last summer and it was sick, the coaches were awesome, and the terrain was good for me to learn on, because im not all that comfortable hitting huge tables all the time....its a super awesome camp for sure...and you're always gauranteed a good time if the Ryersons are there!
