Definitely. High Five was the best of the year. Best Bonus Material too. RedTape a close second though.

I'll 4th or 5th or whatever that notion. High Five is the best of the year. Redtape second and X/Wski third. Every aspect of High Five fit perfectly into the movie; it couldn't have been put together any better.

The outro even fits perfectly, with Zion I 'finger paint'. Then you have Booyah!, and the straight ski porn extra. The Cops the Other Side is funny shit too. I definately would buy it if you haven't got a chance yet.

i really liked high five as well, best i`ve seen so far this year..but i`m just really pissed i cant find the bonus where van valin wrecks his willie, and the rest of the hidden material...

High five is actually my favourite ski movie so far, because it has no fast forward parts. Even excluding dyvbig, i would still take it over royalty.

Redtape makes me unhappy. It was not a very good movie. It makes me want to wrap the DVD in red tape and throw it out the window.

High Five on the other hand was sweet. I've watched it about once a day for the past month, probably my favorite movie this year for sure.

WSKI106 was SICK too. The editing was amazing and the whole movie oozed style. If the skiing were grade-A (I would give it a B/B-), and Raps wasn't in it it could have been #1.

 
High five...what can I say.. I've watched twice today (I got it just now) and it's just so sick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Damn, the skiing even beats X in my mind! The editing is SO SMOOTH, just ridiculous..

The music is fucking great,from sweet,lamenting songs to really upbeat 'I wanna ski my ass off'- songs!

travis Reed's segment is fucking great,nothing else to it. That urban s-rail!!! Never saw that one coming! Corey Vanular also had a sick part,but I can't really decide which part is the best! They're all my favourites (unlike in Forward where DC was the definite choice) but Liam Downey has some SiCk style, I didn't think he would have a seggie that long,I love his style!!

What intriques me most is the fact that only some parts like Pete and Simon had shots from other movies, and only like two I guess... Damn Emil's part was cool,he got so much better on jumps.

The bonuses are awesome,Travis hiding from the security guys haha,culprit Reed. Booyaa! is definately sick, Freedle inspires me,too. His Orage clip was really hilarious,I kept laughing till my abs hurt.

Ahh...I didn't really excpect it to be so good. Boy was I wrong. No movie this year was BAD by any means but High Five is almost perfect (for jibbers).

HIgh five is off the hizzle for shizzle its actually smazing i cant expres how great., Great feel and great movie great skiing great eveyrhting. WSKI is not to be forgotten though, that movie is freaking rediculously sick.

the only things that disappointed me in high five were

1 Gagnier talking too much, not good for watching it over and over

2 Steele's song, it was funny the first couple times, but now it just pisses me off, and he couldve had such an ill segment, i thought his half-cab into pow was ridiculously smooth

 
that urban s rail is so much bigger in person, and that 4-kink rail travis does when he gaps over the last down part is pretty knarly to. the kinks are way steep.

 
I haven't seen yet wsk106,wicked or assault

but for the moment high five takes the best movie award this year and it's the best one far away from all the others, Emil Coty part is fucking sick never saw anything better than that, liam downey same. The music was a little bit weird first but now when you analyse the editing you see that nothing fits better than those songs. The bonus are really cool I love the cops and orage master ones. Even if Crichton part wasn't that long the bonus shot are sick with the jib box. Freedle is great too on how he does the bonus stuff like the orage master. props to the L1P crew to make this movie.

EricPoll...no new tricks,huh? There were new tricks if I might add,I'm not gonna list them all,but it isn't about new tricks anymore,it's about style and execution.

For instance,Tanner's sw butter 3 off a cornice was so shaky and ugly compared to Vanular's. Vanular also did some very tech rail jibs.

Gagnier's criticals grabbed and tweaked like a mute,that's pretty ground-shaking.

Crichton defines railsliding again: ski-boarding. You gotta see it to believe it. A whole new aspect of sliding boxes.

Dylan Hood was also damn impressive, huge sw 180's to pow.

The rails are so gnarly and tech. Liam and Travis nailed the illest ones,but DC's lazy,super-laidback style is adorable.

I'm gonna do a presentation on skiing,and I'll definately show Travis Redd's part. Perfect song,perfect editing,gnarly skiing. If they won't be impressed by skiing afterwards, I'll kick 'em in the nuuuts.

Here's a little, very sketchy review I wrote when I got it:

First off High Five is an awsome movie...

But Im gona break it down like this.. content,music,editing and vibe.

Content:

(Park A-, occasional)

(booters: C+, frequent)

(Rails: A-, frequent)

(cliffs B+, rare)

As usual Level 1 showcases new talent, along with a bunch of well knowns. Most of them all have really good parts.. especially Redd,Gagnier and Vanular. Redd slides some amazing rails and Gagnier has really unique tweaky smooth style that stands out.

Most of the airs (like %90) in this movie take place outside of the park, with some creative and unique jump work. Alot of the jumps are fairly small and some of the jumping isnt too impressive compared to other movies but it's still awsome that level 1 stepped it so much in the backcountry this year and it's defintly alot more intresting to watch then park tables.

The rails arent all mind blowing rails... but almost all are unique in some way. There are of course some that you will watch over and over and over...:P

Music:

(Hip hop: A+,frequent)

(Pop: A-, occasional)

(N/A C-, I have no idea what it is but it's oldschool,pretty funny and goes good with the skiing, Rare)

As usual Berman uses mainly Hip Hop.. which if isnt your thing then look elsewhere.. if it then you will love this soundtrack. It has alot of Zion I, which ive never heard before but is SICK. Also quite a bit of Styles of Beyond.The music is pretty mellow but you can watch it lots without getting sick of it.

There's a few non hip hop songs in there that I cant really discribe.. but not one single punk rock track in there!

Bottom line I love the music but not everyone likes the same kind of music so maybe checkout the soundtrack first....

I cant really say much other then the movie has good flow and everything has a smooth feel to it. Everything fits very well to the music.

I really like the lifestyle and time lapse shots.. aswell as other misc. shots and the way they were put together. The movie is stylin'.

Vibe:

This movie has a fairly consistent have fun, but level 1 style have fun, have fun vibe..:)

The music is pretty much not seriouse and theres alot of feel good tracks used to overall get you stoked to ski.. and even dance!

I hope you liked my review.. and hopefully it made some sense.. this movie is really good but isnt for everyone. If you are a fan of Level 1, or want a movie you can watch over and over..pick this up.. but if your the type of person who just picks up a ski movie to watch once or twice look elsewhere.

Liam that flat 3, or lincoln thing was so sick. What about the rodeo 7 off that 40 ft. cliff? He was pretty close to sticking it.

 
good flick...seemed like someone would do a trick, then show the other angle later in the movie like it was a differnt thing, that got kinda annoying. and whats the deal with chrichtons segment. he had a ton of shit in the other movies. i dont knwo the details or anything, but josh and freedle coulda made a supersolid segment for him, like the last 2 years.

 
^I bet since DC is now a skiing superstar, Josh and Freedle didn't get to shoot with him as much
