hello fellows I'm in college and I have a research paper in English do next wednesday, I have no fuckin idea what topic to do, so I need your guyses help picking one... it has to basically comparing 2 things and there has to be 6 sources and 3 of them have to be scholarly... I wanted to skiing but there are like no scholarly sources on skiing... this is bullshit... please help me.

People really need to stop mixing skiing with school. I understand that is is awesome and shit but write something where you might learn something. Rather than just talking about skiing and shit you already know. It seems like people keep wanting to use skiing as topics for school to prove how much they like skiing and shit. I dunno mang. Good luck what that paper though. I kinda came off as a dick probably, but it's not directed at you, as much as the highschool/middleschool kids and stuff.

Hmmm I can't think of anything. Just remember it's probably better to do something simple and to do it well and be precise than to do something profound and complicated but half ass it.

yea man thats what i was thinking, but i cant think of ANYTHING... i was thinking of doing it on drugs and the affects on the mind but thats fuckin tough shit and im not in biology or anything.

our help in poverty-stricken countries vs our help in oil filled countries or something along those lines.

hmmm that is a good one, i may consider that... thanks man... I kinda wanna stay out of politics for this one though, i did so much of that in highschool

how to get to chad's from the bottom of alta? there seems to be quite controversy about how to do that.

how about drugs and socio-economic classes. like how if you do drugs you're poor. or how if you're poor you do drugs.

^ i think i know where your coming from, like sort of a fear and loathing in las vegas type theme... like how drugs are frowned upon by society, but you cant say just poor people do drugs cause sooo many rich assholes are into coke

There must be SOMETHING you know about. Compare the cost of a hybrid vehicle to a non hybrid vehicle (long term). Compare the rates of cancer in people who smoke and people who don't smoke. Compare the relation of higher speed limits to increased driving related fatalities (or lack thereof). Look at what raising the minimum wage does, if it truly helps people, if it raises prices, etc.

Your best bet is thinking of something that you are either passionate about or know something about. Put the two together, and you'll have a great paper.

Amen...

and that sounds like a hell of a tough college English paper...it has to be comparing two things and have 6 sources? Wooooooow that sounds tooooooough...what college do you go to???

Damn bru that sounds easier than a high school paper.

There is SO much you could possibly compare. I mean honestly, you're in fucking college.

Mies van der Rohe and Le Corbusier: so much written about them you could easily, easily do whatever the fuck you need

That's kind of interesting that you would get to choose any subject you want, I would assume that since it is in an english class the research paper would have to be at least related to some famous piece of literature or something. Seeing as how obviously the teacher is not an expert in all different fields that could possilby be covered, you'll be marked on your actually writing skills as opposed to what you actually talk about because the teacher probably won't understand wtf is up in your paper anyways so just take anything.

the best way to write a good report is to choose a book(novel, comic, magazine) or movie and relate it to another or relate it to society and beliefs. This way you can look at the world or novel as a whole and an outsider looking in, you can report easier that if you try to use your view, also it is easier to stretch it out.

a thesis on how neil armstrong actually never flew to the moon, or how it is debated that JFK was assassinated by the CIA

seriously though, ive always wanted to bring this up, thats not a bad thing in my opinion. why wouldn't we invest time and money creating allies and bases in the center of the middle easy when that is a region rich with oil, a natural resource that is disapeering. makes sense.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHhahahahah damn that was funny.

But for real, a good topic is to see if marijuana is really a "HARMFUL DRUG" or not. It's good to learn about what really goes down when you are smoking.

you could look at effects of global warming or something on the ski industry then explore the pos/neg effects on the economy/industry or something..

I dont know much is anything about it, but i'd say it creates a new industry for jobs, research etc..but potentially can change industry pricing (if ski resorts had to invest more money into equipment which is more carbon friendly, then they may put prices up which harms the industry etc etc..)

I dunno..as much as i can't stand people using skiing as a topic for research papers, (which happens far too much on NS) it's now possible to do well constructed research on the global warming issue (instead of looking at who is better out of thall and dumont).

I go to Capilano college in vancouver. and it is pretty hard cause we have to add something of our own, like something no one has said which I dont see how it makes any sense... my teacher made it so fuckin unclear... but i realized what i was gonna do it on last night... College vs. University and the quality of following it. cause i know a tonne of damn successful people who went to college and not many who went to university. so i think im gonna compare the two and there HAS to be some sort of scholarly article on that subject i hope...

I wanted to say thanks to everyone who came up with ideas for me...

And you just made a fuckin damn good point, now im starting to think that maybe i should write it on something that i know he'll have no knowledge about whatsoever...

ne ways i must go and write a stupid economics test now, fuck college. peace out.

i actually changed my mind i might write it on why underground music shouldnt be mainstream or something along those lines

I just shuddered...

But I'd do something on gasoline and alternate fuel sources. There's gotta be so much info on that.

There is also the philosophy route. You could compare Aristotle, Locke and Hobbes and "the nature of man". Theres three scholarly sources right there, then just grab 3 new york times editorials and you're golden.

golden, i also would do:

conservatism/liberalism vs. democratic/republican parties

CAUSE THE TWO ARE NOT THE SAME THING!

ive actually completely changed my topic and i have about a page now... its on "The price we pay for perfect bodies" i think its a pretty good topic
