I recently got kicked off my University internet account because I got a trojan virus. I need to fix it but I havent got a clue where to start, and I want to avoid rebooting if i can. The virus is called "Vundo" or "Virtumonde". I dont currenty have any virus protection besides the stuff my university requires before you can log on to the network. Any help would be geatly appreciated. Thanks.

actually, just use google, i had the same one once, and i think i ended up getting avast! antivirus (its free) and i think that took care of it.

there may have been a step in between there, but i forgot it, so once again, use google

As hartig said thats an easy way to get rid of it. I suggest ESET NOD32 for antivirus/antispyware to prevent future infections or clearing up this one. You can snag it off the pirate bay and it will have instructions on how to crack it. Bombproof antivirus software, its the best~

to everyone saying search google, i think he has been basically cut off from the interwebs of his university from the sound of that first sentence. unless its a laptop then he has to go buy it from a bookstore or something and that will be expensive as shit.

Haha no its cool, you were heading in the right direction. Im on my dads comp right now. I would have been completely cut off like you had thought (couldnt access internet to install software on my comp), but luckily I have access to my room mates login and password because thats what the university banned(my login name), not my actual comp. Thanks for the suggestions Ill hit up google and get some virus protection and see how it works out.

this guy speaks the truth! ESET NOD32 is by far the best anti-virus software i've used. It's lightweight, un-intrusive, and reliable

... if only i could find a decent version of ESETs 64 bit virus protection
