I MEAN NO HATE IN THE FOLLOWING POST:

I hope you read this, and know that I mean no hate in my writing. This is in response to your statements in Jon Olsson's Video Blog. I'm sure that you don't like being called a halfpipe skier, but let's face it, your one of the sickest in the game. Do you think that MJ liked being known as a joke of a baseball player? No, but i'm sure he got over it eventually. I understand that you are an outstanding all-around skier with skills that I would kill to have. To me though, you are still a halfpipe skier. It's what you are known for. If you were to film another segment like the one in Teddy Bear Crisis, I might change my mind. I that segment is one of my favorites of all time. You are still one of the sickest in the game, so don't get down about the fact that most people consider you more of a halfpipe skier. Other skiers are classifed like that. Seth Morrison is a big mountain ripper. Frank Raymond is an urban slayer. Tanner Hall is-well I don't know what Tanner Hall is. Jon Olsson is a big air machine. Tom Wallisch is a style master. Ced T-F is a pirate. Sammy Carlson is a jumper. You are a half pipe skier and have accomplished more than most skiers can dream of.

Just leave out the opening part next time.

The opening shot of Dumont in Grizzly doing the 3 where the trees are in the foreground is one of my favorite shots of all time.

amazing segment.

one of the best segs in tbc.

the day kris ostness makes another full length movie will be one of the happiest days of my life.

simon kills it. if you liked this segment, check out reasons, he has several segments like this and its amazing.

Dude I think you are trying to classify skiers into too many different groups. What it comes down too is that everyone has their own style and everyone has an aspect of skiing that in their minds is where they rock it and have the most fun. It doesn't matter who is a halfpipe skier or a big mountain junkie we are all shredders and are all SKIERS! I am not gonna lie I think it is way better to be way more well rounded in all conditions and I think that some need to explore more in different areas of the sport because there are so many possibilities out there and if you are better all around it will help you in all areas of skiing Why do you think Tanner is so good at EVERYTHING?! Do what you do.

im not saying those guys are more than what i listed them as, and i do classify them all as skiers. i was simply showing that simon is not the only one that people think of as a specific type of skier. I also didn't say Tanner was good at everything.

like TJ Schiller said in Seven Sunny Days, "I think Simon is known to be that half-pipe guy, but you take him anywhere and he's going to show everybody up."

I think all of those guys have great style and I love watching all of them in different elements. I think it just boils down to the fact that I really really really love this sport and seeing what other people have to bring to it.

Dumont Kills is everywhere. Watch his Europe section in Reasons!

Maybe it should be noted his specialty is Halfpipe, because it is, and he is top 3 in the world on any given day!

Word.

TBC is my favorite ski movie. No matter how many times I watch it it never gets old.

If Kris can pull off another TBC, stoked wouldn't even begin to describe how I would feel.

well, thats sort of what i meant. he is know for pipe, his specialty, but he still rips everything.

as for pipe, simon is the only constant. so many guys kill pipe comps, but he is the most consistent

Sammy i wouldnt say is just jumps. i like to think of him as a park genious because yes he definitely excels at jumping, but he is very progressive with park rails. In particular the up-flat-down rails. Hes also gonna be sick at halfpipe pretty soon.

youre missing the point of the thread. my poiint was that skiers are known for different things, even though most of them slay lots of different aspects of skiing

Word, but when Dumont said that I think he was just asking for a bit of recognition in places outside of the pipe. Can't put a guy down for that.

yah, but the only difference is michael jordan was hated on because he did suck at baseball. simon dumont is actually good at everything, not just pipe. so the hate on him doesnt really make sense

I disagree

Dumont came in the game as a half pipe skier. And he's today the most spectacular skier to watch ride it. But I don't categorize him as a half pipe skier anymore because his big air skills are amazing. Have you ever watch his shots from the Jon Olsson Super Sessions? He's AMAZING. Double frontflip? Regular cork 1080? Switch 3? Those regular corked 1080s with the never ending grab are so sick. Remember the no motion step up 180 from 2-3 years ago?

I must even say that he's one my favorite riders to watch hit big airs... That's why I disagree to categorize him as a half pipe skier.
