Yeah, I think I understood that, I just think its worth pointing out, for the sake of argumentation. It reminded me of something that went down over here a few month ago: a singer called Molly Sandén wanted the media to "stop talking so much about women's bodies" and tell young girls its ok to not be a size 0 (the whole debate had to do with the fact that people were bullying her because she isnt skinny), but her way of doing this was through posing nude and show off her body... it just defeats the purpose completely to claim trying to stop the focus on something when youre in reality dragging focus to just that thing. The body/hotness shouldnt even be relevant.

Its flattering to hear that you're hot, that goes for everyone. But, like people already have mentioned, when Maud Raymond puts up an edit she most likely does not do it to hear that she has an amazing ass. Girls should get more recognition for what they actually do, not how they look doing it.

Yeah I called out two members on NSG saying not to be sexist cunts and got a fuck load of downvotes and their comments got heaps of upvotes. Dingosean made a thread about a passed out girl on her floor and a little more two it and the first two comments were asking if she was attractive. My karma score also dropped and SFB decided to call me a "butthurt social justice warrior" like caring about equality is something that is so bad. It made me pretty angry that the NS community can just laugh off sexism.

Don't be blind man, the hate on women is in a lot of places and we need to stop ignoring it and take a stand. It might be better on TGR than it is on NS (I admit we have a problem, which is why we're dealing with it) but it isn't invisible. This is a problem in our industry and we need to do something about it.

I think we can all agree that things have gotten a bit out of control. This is the reason we've been really trying to blow this issue open and dedicate a lot more resources to guiding people back on track.

I'm really sorry you had that experience.

Sexism is everywhere in the snow community. Whether it's NS, Epicski, TGR, whatever. It might be more silent on other sites (which admittedly has a more mature viewerbase) but it's still very much an underlying issue that needs to be rectified across all mediums - not just internet forums, but in advertisements, magazine articles (remember the 'gear girl' articles of old? Yeah, the guys loved it, but damn.. that's objectified consumerism if I've ever seen it) video media, and the products themselves (All too often I hear ladies bitching about womens skis, boots etc, being WAY too girly, so they buy shorter dudes skis so they don't have to be seen on some gaudy pink 'girls barbie bike' skis and be immediately discredited for it)

The ad space on their media pages does well because its media. Their forum space suffers from the same issue as any other forum.

I'm just making a point in that its out there. Hell, the problem on here is just a couple of fucksticks that are ruining the party for everyone else, which is why we're addressing it.

I'm sure the couple of TGR homies respect their ladies... just like the couple of Newschoolers homies do too. Its when the masses of fucktards get into it that the problem lies.

Also note - I'm never saying we aren't guilty - or even that we aren't the worst - all I'm saying is that its a meta problem and we all need to do our part to stop ignoring it. I'm doing mine, and am going to dedicate as many resources as I can to changing our little world over here.

Any time a small group of women move into a traditionally male group or culture there is going to be push back. Skiing is one of those cultures.

Want to get respect, bring your A-game and show you can play ball.

Guys are giving you shit? Throw it right back at them. Some guy or gal calls you out? Show them up.

There are plenty of skiing circles out there with one or two gals, where they are fully respected. Why? Because they throw the fuck down, and are NEVER the weak link. They are the ones spotting the new line, one-uping the tricks, skiing it just a bit faster or bigger than the last person.

This isn't just a male/female thing. It happens anytime someone new shows up to a team. You need to show you're capable. If your not, don't expect to hang around long. It just so happens, that due to evolutionary physiological reasons, less females can hang in athletic sports than guys, so there is going to be some natural skepticism. It's not wrong, unless you are some PC, hug-it-out, pacifist wimp. It's fucking science, and to an extent, evofuckinglution.

We are all human, we are going to make jokes of things. It's not a problem, it's just that life is better when you are having fun. If the humor offends your sensitive ears, stop fucking listing; wimp.

There are too many people running around looking to be offended by something these days.

Want respect? Show the fuck up and earn it. Want other people to respect female skiers? Get the fuck out of their way and let them show they deserve it. There are way too many women who are more than strong enough to do so with out some whinny guy trying to protect them. Don't believe me? Get off the forum, and go into the world, cause these ladies are not bitching online, they are too busy getting ahead. Making a bitch thread and threatening to censor anyone who disagrees with your whine fest is not going to do anything to earn girls respect, it is actually counter productive.

Also TGR is another one of those male spaces like cobra_commander said, they will tear you apart for being new and posting stupid shit online but when you actually meet up with them in person they are good people who you can ski with, rideshare with, meet up with, etc.

Only my third year of freeskiing, just getting into the aspects of everything

Produced a season edit, thought everything was great

Comments were pretty positive, saying the progression was large and the tricks were improving

Got a bunch of crap about my outfit choosing, which kind of made me feel like all those shots were throwaway, no matter how good I thought it was

I wanted to produce an edit this summer including some summer shots and season shots, but with the feedback I had just felt like there was no point and the skiing wouldn't be appreciated

Now I have a different perspective, I know my outfit choice was lame, but i don't care, just going to produce whatever and hope

People appreciate the skiing

On another note, this thread is full proof that this forum can hold constructive, deep, interesting conversations about serious topics. There's no question that I sometimes get really frustrated with the shallowness on display here, but for real, this thread is exactly what we're capable of. Thanks for restoring my faith.
