HEY CANADA

Canada only has more olympians during these games because they are the host nation... That means they can put athletes into sports that they're not even closely qualified to be in the olympics for. This is why Greece was able to have a baseball team in 2004... Granted, Canada is a little more qualified in just about every sport than greece was back then, it's still means that Canada has an inflated olympic team...

Also, this year it snowed in places like Dallas, TX, Natchez, MS, and Tuscon, AZ. So technically you're wrong. (I do see your point though haha)

Haha, when I was in Vancouver (watching hockey), I was at the Slovak/Czech game, and whenever there was a penalty, some guy behind me always yelled "YOU SUCK MCCORMICK!"

thank god you didn't *lose* any.

But as for the game. Really fun game of hockey to watch. US got worked for the first 2 periods for sure. Milller did a great job in net, no doubt saved us the game on a couple of occasions. Hopefully the US can keep on winning. If they play like the unit they played as tonight my hopes are high.

Who else thought Kessler's open net goal was sexy as fuck?

Any idea why people passed it? It seems like a lot of people were against it...was it ever realistic at any point, or was it just another way government wastes money better spent elsewhere?

Dont dare forget that #77 hanging in the Garden rafters. Or the #66 hanging in Pittsburgh and all Canadian arenas during international play...

are you kidding me- with the exception of skiing and snowboard pipe we are so underfunded- you guys pay your curlers- along with the rest of the world- our bets curler is a bartender when hes not training

LEGENDS

Also, my dad taught Terry O'reilly and Cleon Daskalakis how to play racquetball. I've met them both several times hahah

Orielly, bruins legend.

Daskalakis was a goalie for the B's.

Also, I'm related to this guy, Johnny "Pie" McKenzie.

Dude, you don't have to tell me twice...Ray was my hero growing up. My brother got to meet him through our father, but we both got autographed pictures. Seeing him hoist that Stanley Cup in an Avalanche uniform was painful, but I used to watch Bruins games just for him. Hockey isn't the same without him...Bruins hockey especially.

Yeah, that moment was bittersweet because I fucking hate the Avs.

But Ray Borque is the player I tried to emulate most while growing up playing on the blueline. Nobody deserved their name on the champions chalice more than he did...

Dont forget about Adam Oates... during his tenure with the Bruins, he supplied more assists than anyone except Gretzky... He was a playmaking BEAST.

Dude, Adam Oates was sick. I was a big Don Sweeny fan too. My mom taught Bill Guerin's kids how to swim hahaha. When your family owns one of the biggest health and fitness clubs in New England located 40 minutes north of Boston, you are in a pretty good position to meet a few athletes. I was always too shy to approach a lot of them, but I met guys like Mo Vaughn, Nomar Garciaparra, Rodger Clemens, Jose Canseco, John Valentin, several bruins...etc. I also work out next to Robert Perryman from time to time. Guy is fuckin HUGE!

there should be a thread on classic Boston athletes.

Fuck that. This is a hockey thread, dont bring weak pussy sports to the table. And the only thing good to come out of Boston sports was the Bruins and Larry Bird. Dont bring up anything else because it's boring.

U.S won't get past Russia and probably won't beat Canada a second time. Canada made huge mistakes by leaving Phaneuf and Green out of the defensive core so Russia should destroy them in quarter finals. But either way U.S won't win gold, Sweden, Russia, Canada, maybe even Finland are all more than capable of shutting down the mediocre Americans (better than Canadalol.)

Being from Canada myself I should be supporting my own country but I won't cheer for anything involved with fucking Crosby. I believe hockey IS Canadas game and we got straight out worked today and didn't get the chances we should have because of stupid attempts at fancy plays resulting in turnovers. Sure Brodeur didn't play great but people are missing the saves he did make and if we put in Luongo he'd let in some softies guaranteed.

So fuck U.S.A, and fuck Canada, Russia all the way if they can beat Canada in the quarters.

Talking shit is half the fun of being a spectator of a sport. I'll admit, I am not a big hockey fan, but you gotta stick with your teams through the good times and bad. Hell, I'm from Seattle and our sports have been absolutely abysmal here for the past few years, but the longer you stay true, the better it feels when your team wins.

Its just shit talking though, nothing personal. I love my neighbors to the north, but USA FTW!!

Well, yes you can only send a certain amount of people to the games.but. America can choose from 9 times more people to represent their country at the games. Also, not all of the winter olympics involves snow. 9 out of the 21 sports are either on a track or in an arena.

That was one of the best games i have ever seen. Canada might be more skilled and out shot usa but usa is more of team than canada is. Usa isnt a bunch of super stars trying dangle and make impossible plays like canada did. Usa made the simple plays to get the puck out of their zone and bring it down to get any shot they could on broduer. Usa by far out worked canada and that comes to show that a hard working team can beat one of the most skilled teams ever assembled.

And the US junior hockey team beat the canadiean junior team a month ago

GO SUCK ONE CANADA!!!!

every american is a hick....

just like every canadian is an eskimo....

stop with the generalizations. your right though, there is no medal so it doesnt matter. but you cant tell me this win doesnt mean anything. because it clearly does. look at how worked up everyone got over the game last night.

Actually the Junior game between USA and Canada was the world championships so fuck off you dumb canadian. and dont worry USA will have a medal around their necks by the time the olympics are over

americans had better goaltending and therefore won the game.

USA did not outplay canada.

USAdid not outskate canada.

USA did not out hit canada.

all you did was have ryan miller. I will admit that the US buried their chances when they needed to, but it was mostly when Brodeur screwed up.
