Ill have 6-7ish hours on the ground there next friday. Ive already figured out how to take the train from the airport to downtown and back.

After that whatcha got? Ive never been, but i take the mentality of to travel is better than to arrive, and off the beaten path is better. (AKA im not spending the money on Alcatraz)

Also whats good to eat thats cheap, does SFO have its own Gyro type food carts like NYC does? something along those lines for eating.

Thanks guys!

nah im just going for the day. I lose this incredible luxury of being able to get on a plane for free in 1 year so im in "TAKE TRIPS FOR SHITS AND GIGGLES MODE" (i was in up state NY 2 weeks ago lol)

unfortunately my day trippable options out of SLC with good public transit are lacking damn LA for not running trains.

why? they have bomb food and shops. If you are legit uncomfortable around people different than you, SF is a horrible place to visit.

you get off the train right by the baseball field, from there take one of the MUNI buses wherever. Taxis can get expensive, but is def a good option, though i suggest hiking a few blocks before trying to pick one up because there is always a line at the train station. what kind of food you looking for? tons of really good restaurants all over.

You looking for museums? parks? what kind of activities, ie active, shopping, food, historical?

The only other big cities ive ever spent a good amount of time in are seattle and portland, and SF is WAAAAAAY different. There is every type of person you can imagine. its like a layed back version of NYC i imagine.

Personally, i would hit up the presidio to look at the GG bridge, then go to the marina(touristy, but sooooooo many sexy females walking around after their yoga classes).

what day are you coming? what season?

ill be there friday.

museums are awesome (if they are free)

i like experiencing the area, so finding a park etc is awesome. or seeing the city type deal. i dont need to hit up theme parks or buy a bunch of touristy stuff to enjoy a new place. walking around flying by the seat of my pants is how i go. (except i like to be well informed on whats good in the area before i go) Im not gonna spend any money other than transit and food.

for food a street cart type deal is what i look for. Like i said in NYC you can get the most amazing food for cheap right on the street corner. (im not afraid to try something new) and the cheaper the better.

the golden gate bridge is definitely on the list, as well as checking out stuff down by the water. getting to the GG bridge doesnt look as simple on public transit as from the airport to down town.

thanks for the heads up!

also, contrary to what alot of homophobic people think, i know gay people are not serial rapists...... lol

fisherman's wharf,

golden gate park,

haight-ashbury.

sf is a great city. tons of stuff to do. i go to berkeley and when i'm stressed out i always feel better after spending the day in the city.

I'm flying in to San Fran on Friday night - Got a suite at the Clift booked, and am going to see Noel Gallagher at the Orpheum theatre on Sat night, then flying out Sunday...

Epic weekend, is epic.... you should stay and go to the Noel gig... will be sensational.

Definitely at least go for a walk through the Castro, there's a lot of history there, and gaybourhoods always have the best food. Its true. Aside from that I have absolutely no clue. Cali's wine country is also right around there I think, so maybe if you can grab a bus or a train out to the burbs you could check out some scenery, and some really good wine. Vineyards are some of the most strikingly beautiful/peaceful places.

Yeah, I personally love the Castro-great food and people watching. SF is not the place for people who don't like people different from them.

Napa/Sonoma is the wine country that you speak of, it would be too far to go if you are only in SF for the day-talking about 1-1 1/2 hour drive from SF.

Cool places to wander though....Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39 area (though more touristy), Golden Gate Park (and sunset area right by golden gate park has some good places to eat), Mission District has some great cheap places to eat and great for hipster watching and wandering, China Town is definitely worth seeing and a lot of fun, Ocean beach is always nice if you are craving some beach time (though of course weather is a gamble in the city, it can be really nice or cold/foggy). I guess there is a lot to do and see in the city, just a matter of what you want to do. There are a TON of good places to eat-depends on where you are so I wouldn't worry about good cheap food. Narrow it down by what you want to see first then pick some eateries accordingly...or just wander around until something looks good.

Pier 39, Fisherman's WharfAll along Embarcadero

Golden Gate Bridge

go to the rainforest cafe or the hard rock cafe!! Such good food there!

And if you want... there are strip clubs on Broadway ;)

Have fun in SF!

Lol. Down by the warf some guy was carrying his own bush around and doing that. Scared the shit out of me. I was only a little guy. Fucking traumatic. What a douche

haha just a fair warning. I mean It might just be where I live, but if any straight man here were to walk down that road they would freak out lol

Castro is fine. Good food just a bunch of gay people. Market Street stay away from. Homeless people everywhere
