I suspect I may have a linguinal hernia, i have a doctors appointment on friday to find out for sure. I was just curious if anyone here has had one before. Did you get surgery? how was the surgery? how was the recovery time?

really bummed, not what i need at all right now.

thanks

I think I might have one as well, i'v ebeen outa the game 4 almost a month and my groin still feels torn, it's awful. i heard the surgery isn't to bad in and out in the same day and a few weeks recovery.

hope all is well

Yes. Not a big deal. One thing that the Dr. will tell you is that, if you get a hernia on one side you are almost guaranteed to get one on the other side. My doctor was sure about me having a hernia on one side, but wasn't sure about the other side. After we had this conversation I told him I would be back in a day. I went home, shoveled the snow in my drive way and also shoveled snow in two of my neighbors driveways. I went pretty fast and beat myself up. Went back to the Doctor, and he confirmed that I now had hernias on both sides. One surgery, both sides fixed and now I will never have to worry about it again. Not suggesting that you do it this way, but it worked for me. The advice I would give you is to stop taking the pain meds as soon as you can, they dehydrated me and seemed to make things worse. I felt better and was back to normal as soon as I stopped taking them. I'd say that getting my wisdom teeth pulled was way worse than bilateral hernia surgery.

Had a hernia surgery 4 years ago. The surgery itself was nothing but waking up sucked. It was a little uncomfortable. 2-5 days after its still really sore to move around ever so slightly. Not a sharp pain idk its hard to describe. I forgot the name of my hernia but it was by my bread basket so i had to take my pants off 6 times for all the god damn doctors. Mine was a 3 month recovery until i was aloud to do any sports

I'm really quiet about this, aha I find having one kind of embarrassing. But I have a really small reducible one that was deemed unnecessary for surgery at this time; the risks of leaving it are outweighed by any post surgery complication risks (which aren't very high as I understand). So I'm just having to keep an eye on it and if it worsens I'll be getting it fixed.

my uncle had one from lifting boxes, got surgery, and he never really said it was bad. still works at his job lifting heavy boxes

me too man. have had one for a few years now. looks like a blown up vein beside my dick. no doctors have seen it but few of my educated drunk friends had. unfortunately they must have each been more drunk than smart at the time. cause they all answered 'yup that definitely might potentially be a hernia'. anyways im not scared about it. monitoring it like you are. coincidentally, this dummy ass hernia was born on the side of my pants where I had always dumped my cellular (L). I found that after dumping the cellular into the other side pocket (R) that the hernia quit growing like the hulk. it aint green and shit but while I used to work out, am employed on a drilling rig, and overall do a lot of physical activity, this cocksucker at times would feel uncomfortable and grow in size. in the mornings this dummy hernia is almost inexistent in size. while I continue doing the same amounts of strenuous activity it never really has grown too much or pained me, I think ever again, since swapping that celly into the opposite pocket. one time, chilling in L pocket, I smashed a 3 day portage with the fellas. daily we trecked on foot thru the woods, canoed thru lakes, and deprived our bodies from food, water, while consuming alcohols. daily activities consumed roughly 10 hrs. our bodies got raped by mosquitos, bled from black fly bites, burned from the sun, froze in the lakes while bathing, and ended up shredded after finished, driving back to civilization. any which faking way, aint was nothing as fucked as my hernia. after smashing a 2.4 km hike without stopping, with 50 lbs of gear and a canoe swinging on my back without rest, I tossed that shit off me to devour sum water and resume to get gear ready in canoe now, to push into the next lake I had to stop. made my sis's fiancé, brother, and friend who's currently getting into med school. this bitch as stupid hernia was the size of a side of a soccer ball. faker was swole 7' size in diameter. was a mess. don't want ever again. need to monitor dummy ass stupid hernia like a old dude monitors his heart rate. fak

I had an ingueanal hernia repair back in kindergarten. For me we could tell because one of my labia was much bigger than the other, although the doctors said the hernia was probably something I was born with. Three of my cousins and my grandpa have also had the surgery, so I'm thinking I have less than ideal genetics. It was no big deal, the anaesthetic left me pukey for a day or two afterwards and that's about it. The only one of us who struggled a bit with the recovery was my grandpa - assuming you're not 70 I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I have an inguinal hernia and havn't yet had the surgery. Just skiing with it (compression shorts help a lot). Will get it fixed at the end of the season probably.

Trying to make sense of this post. A hernia has nothing to do with your dick. Linguinal hernias are in your lower abdomen:

It's a hole in your abdominal wall that your intestines poke through. It feels like the ache you get after getting kicked in the balls, but it doesn't go away. Whatever you have, you probably need to have a doctor look at it. Seriously. You want to make sure that it isn't testicular cancer. If you let that go, you most likely won't be posting for much longer.

Meh he's probably just generalizing location. Mine was pretty low, definitely not right next to the wedding tackle but certainly could be ball parked as "next to my dick"

Anyone else had one repaired with that shitty mesh and plug deal??? I had mine repaired some 6 years ago maybe more, and to this day there is an odd lump there still. Not really painful or anything but protruding and odd enough that sometimes I wonder if the surgeon left something in there that shouldn't have been.

My hernia was protruding into my nutsack so it was right beside my shlong. You get a break and your abdoman wall yes then it protrudes through and causes a lump. I dont know about anyone else but i could push mine in and out. It also only really showed when i stood up. The surgeon told me that ive had it my whole life but only noticed when i was about 14/15. Felt no effects from it until i could see it.

I think i got mine just stitched closed and thats why i had to take it easy for 3 months instead of 6 weeks. At a young age they dont necessarly like doing the mesh i dont think just because it doesnt stay good for ever. It is stronger but it can but unlikely will cause problems later on. Imo the more natural the better. The inly thing i have to show for it is a tine hardly noticeable scare there now
