Heres the best way to get a metal rail

My car needed a new muffler and i thought i could just take it into any random shop but apparently you need to have the muffler welded in or something. So when i took my car in i decided to ask the guy (this is a small garage)if he would make a couple quick welds on some metal i wanted to make a rail out of.

I offered him 25 bucks and he said bring the metak back at the end of the day, i did and 10 mins later my friends and i had a 15 foot long sturdy as hell metal rail. Ill post pics when i get new batteries for my camera.

 
...or you can get a rail for FREE by driving to the back of ANY department store with a trailer, find the best looking rail, saw it off (all at three in the morning of course), and putting it in your yard.

simple. that's what i did.
 
how could that be the best way to get a metal rail? your assuming all mechanics will cheaply make welds for anybody. Doubt it because mechanics are busy, and 75 percent of them are assholes.
 
or you take your metal to the engineering department at the university, cut it yourself using their equipment, and get them to weld it for you in exchange for some liquor.
 
Haha so true... and the bike rack idea is awesome, I'm doing that... now that I've gotten that out of the way it's time for my story about asshole mechanics. You can skip it if you want but it's pretty weak.

I needed to get my car registered before I went to PA for the summer (back in May) because it expired in July and I didn't want to re-register in PA. It needed a couple things, namely a new quarter lens because it got busted out during an accident and new rear struts. I bring it in and they do the rear struts (for $520...) but tell me that they "didn't have time" to get my fucking quarter lens, so I'd have to bring it back in. I was so angry, I told them I was leaving on May 8 and needed it done before then,and it was already May 4. I said as long as they could get me another appointment before the 8th it was cool. They slide me in late on the 7th, the day before I leave... but fine.

So I bring it in and oh shit! The quarter lens they ordered was actually the wrong one so I'm out of luck... are you fucking kidding me? WHAT? They say there's nothing they can do. Well fuck you, there needs to be something you can do, you fucked me over. So they tell me I can drive a half hour into Burlington and buy it at the dealership and bring it back.... well, it's my last day before I leave for the whole summer, it's not like I don't have a TON if shit I need to get done, and driving an hour both ways and dealing with this shit was not what I had in mind... but OK.

So I get back, they do a shitty job putting it in (PACKING TAPE!?) and say all they need now is proof of insurance and registration. So I reach into my glovebox all excited and for some reason my registration isn't there. To this day I have no idea what happened to it, but it wasn't there. So I start begging with the guy, like after all you've put me through, come the fuck on. If I get pulled over I'll say I had it at inspection and lost it the day after. It won't ever come back to you. I'm gonna be in PENNSYLVANIA for Chrissakes, just please, let it go. Refused. My car still isn't inspected and I'm out the $20 for inspection. Fucking asswipe.
