Henrik's Slopestyle finish

anyone else find it sad that core skiers who shaped the sport for years via various ski movies segments etc. ,and without whom the sport woudn't be what it is now, like edollo, andreas, pk didin't make it to the podium... on the other hand a bunch of young followers who came up to the scene in 2010/2011 perfected the recent dubs and won... . yes, their run were slightly more technical, yet they're just comp skiers, and when Andreas dropped his segment in War in '05 and Ski Porn in '06 + dollo his Slamina seg in '09 they were still probably learinng how to ski

There has been some acknowledgement about Henrik's rail section, but I dont think its fully in the minds of everyone that rails count for 50%, so since they weren't anything that stood out or were really terribly impressive, he didnt get the scores to podium. Sure his jumps were sick, but I honestly think that he only scored as well as he did because he was doing something unique on the jumps. He got the position he deserved so stop bitching about how he deserves to podium. It wasnt a podium worthy run compared to the others and the Judges definitely did a good job, maybe even the best I have seen.

henrik possessed the most free style, and the hand drag should be negated by deep lander pant dropper stomp.im not going to watch the competition tonight, i would rather pretend a different situation occurred, in that henrik won and tom wallisch took 2nd and i took 3rd.

not quite, if he had wanted to get creative he definitely could've. it seemed like he kind of just wanted the main focus of his run to be his nose butter dubs and trips, which are awesome don't get me wrong, but a little variation on his rail section would've made him podium imo

you ahve to be fucking kidding me? he fucking slams his hand into the snow...... might as well have fallen.

I agree with you on the point that a trick isn't unnatural if you can only do it one direction, after all, like many people, I spin right forward and left switch because I'm more comfortable looking over my left shoulder and opening my hips that way.

Same with rodeos, lincoln loops, and other off axis tricks, sometimes people who spin left upright, prefer right rodeos and vice versa. Some people spin one way onto rails and then spin the opposite on jumps and on and on. Because of that, it does sort of obscure the concept of "natural".

I disagree with you on the natural right spinner doing an entire left run and then trying to take something away from them. Paul Rodriguez is a natural goofy rider. He also happens to be unusually and supremely ambidextrous as a skater. He regularly does contest runs entirely regular, and is rewarded handsomely and should be. He established himself as a goofy skater, and then pushed his switch game to the top. I know these sports aren't identical, but I, were I a judge, would absolutely reward an entirely unnatural run. I think in the scoring of slope, there's specific judging criteria that calls for spinning all directions, so maybe not a great parallel, but it is 100% correct to reward unnatural spins.

Variety and diversity in trick selection is and should be rewarded in slope, but all things equal, unnaty tricks should definitely be scored higher.

Came back almost a day later expecting some response like this. Don't be so quick to call me anything, I saw something, I had an opinion, I stated it. I didn't say shit about geopper, but if you think he deserved the podium, that's your opinion. Obviously there's a lot of bias in both directions.
