Henriks dew tour runs

Your really really ignorant. Havent you ever heard about casabon, olsson or numerous other pros complaining about the judging ?

Henrik just wants to see style win over doubles and i agree

footage?
and this isn't the first time judges let their opinions of what equals better style get in the way when it shouldn't. for instance look at how long it took rails to be recognized in scoring, as well as a massive bias towards using poles vs. not using them- which makes NO difference. but hey, if they want comp. skiing to be more towards a certain way of skiing, killing all style, they've got the power to do so.

I agree, elias has no style. That disaster tail press you did (and how well you did it) is way harder than spinning a 3 swap 2 out (like every other competitor). And rodeo 10 blunt? way harder and sicker than any dub. You got shafted.

deseved a podium in imo. shoulda been bobby you then nicky g. and thanks for tkin the pic with me. rly appreciate it. i like nice people. but you should have tooken my seat cushion. i mean i offered it to you and you didnt take it. like wtf!! jk ur a nice guy. goodbye. im done talking now. peace.

Sucks that these pros are being forced to throw down dubs that aren't that styly to win over shit they actually want to do and can make it look better. It's called slopeSTYLE for a reason, not slopespinningtowinit.

The way I saw it- Henrik did get screwed. The disaster tail press deserves the recognition of a high level rail trick. As well, that rodeo/almost bio 10 blunt should have been scored with the same weight as a cleanly landed double flip. His last switch dub? That should have probably been scored higher than a double cork 10, but it doesn't seem like they gave him any of these. Keep shredding hard and getting yourself into finals Henrik, cause its fun getting to watch your skiing.

All judging at every comp sucks, get use to it. Every winter when the major comps roll around, I see threads bitching about the judging, its not going to change, it will always suck.

yes exactly and he grabbed throughout every trick letting go right before landing unlike many who only do a slight grab not grabbed for very long

dude, you are the fucking man. don't ever stop doin what your doin

very legit, unbiased response. and i lol'd when he call out ben hahaha what do you got to say now fucker? haha

Hey guys, judging is going to suck in any sport that isn't a race! Think about it. When there is no clear cut winner and opinions come into play, there are going to be some upset people. Skiing and snowboarding is one example, but think olympics. Gymnastics and figure skating come to mind (although I rarely watch either). It seems that every four years, there is an issue with the judging in one of these sports. Having a panel of judges for something that has no real format to judge is going to have some issues.

All the judges can do to fix this problem is be more clear to the competition what they are looking for. Basically, the judges need to inform the competitors that if you throw 3 dubs, you are going to score wayyyyyyy higher than doing one or two dubs with another dope trick thrown in there.

Excuse the double, but basically the only thing this thread has demonstrated is Ben.'s stupidity

you can watch part of his run on allis website but its just like the highlights. when he threw his poles down to me it just meant that he was stoked as fuck on his run. but i agree 110% with the doubles, not just in slope, but in pipe too. you can watch all of these kids (who dont get me wrong kill it) do the same trick (dub 10/12 w/ mute grab) over every single jump. people like henrik, bdog, taylor seaton are getting shafted because they bring so much style and not the doubles that the judges wanna see.

as far as pipe goes, doubles look sick in the pipe, but no grab? its not like doubles are nothing new in pipe but anohter year of not adding a grab other than a safety? i mean it was understandable when thall was throwing dubs, but damn that was 2 years ago.

see this is why ns is awesome, because you actually can hear from the pro's themselves.

first of all, i meant no hate towards your actual skiing. if that wasnt clear im sorry. your run was rad, and the gap to tailpress the second run was the first time i think ive ever seen that.

i just think its interesting that newschoolers has these double standards that two people can do very similar things, but because one person is popular to NS, they dont recive nearly the same hate.

as far as the judging, i dont know. both bobby and elias had sick runs, they both did 3 fully cleanly grabbed dubs, its not surprising to me that they won. and im just not sure why every time dubs win over style, people seem to be shocked about it. By now everyone should KNOW thats whats going to happen. If you want to keep doing steezy runs, by all means do it, itll show the outside world some other skiing. But dont get mad when you dont win, if you KNOW thats how its going to be judged. style will always be too hard to judge (really, who decides who has the "best" style?) and i think we all know contests will never be about that, and always about whose pushing the sport in terms of bigger spins and flips.

finally, Henrik, i watch your stuff because im actually stoked on your skiing. im just frustrated by the fact that its hidden by the arm waving and hand gestures, videos of you lip synching to wu tang, and wearing hoodies to your ankles. in my eyes at least, its distracting and makes sick skiing look really goofy instead.

i was thinking the same thing with x-games slopestyle last year
bobby's run was dirty but he muted every fucking trickthats just pushing us closer to aerials.. - too many people can throw the exact same dub 10/ dub 12 with a mute
mute grabs might as well be kept to mogul skiing and should only be allowed on one hit in slopestyle comps.. if at all
king of style, for one, should completely ban mute grabs.. it's a bummmer that the name and concept of that event pretty much got butchered this year

Bobby won X-games slopestyle last year with 3 mutes. Tj won X-games slopestyle two years ago with three mutes. Andreas won X-games slopestyle three years ago with three mutes. In my opinion, if there is 3 jumps, you have to do 3 different grabs, judging sucks nowadays...

this.

i was at the slopestyle final, and you killed it dude. that rodeo blunt 10 was the most stylish trick in the comp. dub cork 9 was so sick too. i'd love to see judges take style and flow into consideration when scoring, you'd have no trouble getting on the podium.

wu tang is the greatest and you talk about his hoodies and clothes and his style... thats how he skis and finds it fun everyone has there own style so why hate on him... henriks dope either way keep slayin dude

This is exactly the can of worms that was opened up when doubles were first brought to the table.

It seems that the only requirement for "style" now is to be tucked into a ball with your hands on your skis spinning and flipping as fast as possible and landing on your feet. Failure to follow this edict in a slope competition will result in lower difficulty scores.

It's like the old zero spin over a massive jump dilema. How should judges compare that to a spinning trick that features impressive numbers, but may not actually be any more difficult to nail?

Judging sucks. Plain and simple. Whether your the athlete, or the judge. It all comes down to opinion of what looks good. People get shafted a TON. Especially mcrae.

well thats the most fucked up observation i've heard in a while
it doesn't even seem like it'd be that fun to be throwing the same grab in all your tricks on a three jump line. might as well just do zero spins on every feature

yessir henrik, bless up tha truth.

Just want to let you know that your style is fiyah, and anyone who hates and tries to say anything different is retarded.

no hate on henrik at all, but if simon came on here with a "snotty" comment to a hater like that everyone would be all over simon for it, not backing him up...

THIS would be precisely my point. it really had very little to do with his skiing, or anyones skiing. Just newschoolers double standard when it comes to criticism.

I didnt care when Simon was bummed, and similarly i myself had no problem with henriks comments as well, it would be hypocritical if i did. My point was newschoolers hilarious double standard between their heroes and people they think arent cool anymore.

nevermind. misread that post. i didnt see anything about henriks post that was really snotty. i honestly didnt mind it at all, and im stoked that you can actually hear the pro's viewpoints on NS.

...

Pretty sure there are styley dubs being thrown in comps these days. Also hands on your skis = grabs but I know what you mean and I wasn't aware that a dub mute or a japan was an ugly looking grab. Oh wait it isn't a blunt so it must be an unstyley grab.

Competitions have always favored more flips and spins over style. Get used to it (you should already be used to it). I don't see why people are surprised.

If you don't like the competition scene than don't do it. People have been bitching for years about style vs. spin to win. A pro now a days should know going into a comp that he will either have a choice of to be styley and probably get scored lower or to be spin to win and probably get scored higher. Some pros chose to be styley and others chose to spin to win. It is their choice and they know what will most likely happen if they do one thing or another.

It sucks that a run that a pro thinks is awesome got scored so lowly just because they didn't throw another double or two but that is just the way major competitions today seem to work (xgames, dew tour, etc). And if you don't like the way they are judged than don't do them and I understand that they make most of their money off of competition wins so they should be willing to do whatever it takes to win.

Who knows though...I don't know how competitions work from a pros point of view and it is just my opinion.
