I'd also add the argument that it shouldn't just be about new tricks... recycling tricks is perfectly fine if you do them in a style which has never been done before.

On the logic of recycled tricks that would be like hating on Pollard for doing a flat 5 because its been done.

As I said earlier, the bulk of people that visit this site are between 18 and 24. Freeskier boasts an older demo than that.

So the armies of 13 year olds are a total myth.

Another FUCK YOU for anyone saying that he won because of 13 year old NS kids voting. Doug just proved you wrong via numbers on that one. Not only that but do you think a 13 year old would rather vote for Tom or Henrik? Tom.... Common since dictates that battle.

When I'm coaching I ask all my kids who the best skier in the world is, and more KIDS (key word KIDS) say Sammy, Tom, Bobby and Simon. Alot of them barley know who Henrik is because is he hasn't won gold at the X Games and doesn't dominate at the Dew Tour. Henrik winning is kinda crazy because most of the skiing population is dumb as fuck and only watch a hand full of videos and X Games.

And in no way shape or form I'm trying to hate on Sammy, Tom, or anyone.

I say Henrik AND Sammy should have won. 2 completely different skiers both slaying everyday. Sammys the best all around and Henrik is influencing the ski industry like no one else has done before. We need both of these types of skiers in the industry and would be really boring with only one type.

Sammy and Henrik are two of the most motivated skiers in my opinion and its really inspiring to see. So to me Henrik and Sammy won skier of the year. Cant wait to see what the have for this upcoming season.

Way to focus on being a unique skier and not following along everyone else and progressing the sport in a different direction... big up for having your own style... also BIG up the voters for realzing how Henrik does unique shit thats never been seen done or thought of before!

anyone who think this is such an outrage that he beat sammy is foolish!... sammy works hard for sure.. they are both deserving to be the final two! the game is tight!

how can you proof that most of the people who voted are between 18 and 25? That is, regarding the statistics, the NSers average age, and I doubt that. How many of the people who joined NS years ago are now 25 and really active in the skiing online community? Besides, do you think people usually tell their real age on the internet? I use several accounts on yt f.e. telling that I am 64. I also have to say that when I am 25 years old and not a ski pro or founder of this site (so my daily life and money would depend on freeskiing), I wouldn't give a fuck about this award. Espescially if i just left college and was hoping for a good job, to marry and have kids. Seems obvious to me that the kids decide. There's nothing bad abour that, but pleas stop denying it.

This is not an award about who is "the Skier of the year", but about "who has the most young people fanciing him/her and give a fuck about internet-clicking-votes" (which clearly don't include many 18+ guys, beside pros or media people like you, who, of course, care like i said above)

Still, I think Sean Pettit is the most impressive skier although I love Henrik's riding and am happy for him winning the title. I just wanted to make clear that the 18-25-thing is no argument and that this should be called "Skier of the Year: Teen's Choice Award".
 
Im pretty sure people over 18 use the internet besides media persons and pros, how can you say it clearly doesnt?

I'm 23 and I voted henrik in every round, he was in my opinion just the best skier last season. He'll probably do it again this season too if his first edit was anything to go by!
 
I think you're wrong, i bet more than a few voted maybe not for henrik but im pretty sure there are still non-teens who give a fuck

We can't say the majority of the age group on this site is 18-24 since a lot of people lie about there age on the Internet.
 
you cant even compare the two.

henrik cant (at this point in time) do what sean can do in the backcountry, but lets see sean do what henrik can do on the streets or in the park.

apples and oranges, they're both fruit but they're pretty fucking different.
 
Thats histerical. Sammy got fucking ripped off. I'm a fan of both skiers but come on. Sammy makes his own movie, podiums all over the place and has a banger segment in Grand Bizarre. Henrik makes fucking Blackout and is in Retallack, and doesn't do shit in comps. Doing a butter double doesn't make you fucking god. It was cool but Sammy deserves that award more than anyone.
 
Henrik doesn't do shit in comps?? what you are saying is the epitamy of what is taking freeskiing in the wrong direction. Henrik has 1 of the most entertaining runs out of anyone in the competition circuit, always doing something fresh that hasnt been done a thousand times before and rarely ever grabbing the infamous Mute. Henrik and B made their own movie, put out B & E all throughout the season, filmed a little in retallick, and has a style that is possible one of the most emulated (besides Wallisch) in the industry and for good reason.

Sammy is an amazing skier and its definitely a good battle for skier of the year, but to shit on Henrik for killing it all year and winning (which is a peoples vote) its just plain disrespectful and disgusting to see in our sport. Some of you guys need to take a step back and really look at what your saying before you say it.

I'm happy for Henrik, you kill it all the time man, and watching you ski keeps me having faith that our sport wont turn to shit with all these ussa comps and olympics. Keep it up brudda. Haters hate the best
 
how about henrik's dub rodeo 10 or whatever the hell that was at the beginning of B&E episode 7, tweaked with that safety grab, i hate forward 10s and 12s and shit, but that was absolutely insanee, and i have never seen anyone do that before
 
this thread is immature. really? again the fight about park vs. bc skiers? to each their own. stop hating on each other. it's the same sport, we all love the same thing..skiing. so shut the fuck up and stop comparing. when it comes down to it, it's always going to be a popularity contest. plus there are more people who read freeskier than just NS'rs.
 
Stfu. Henrik desevered it. Yes Sammy won x games and slays all round. But henrik has truly changed skiing this past year. The b and e has had way more influence then Sammys segment, and in my opinion henrik should have won x games big air, and possibly some of the other competitions.
