Henrik Harlaut is the greatest skier of all time

Yea he is the goat and so damm humble, even when he got the lead of the most xgames medals ever he was still saying that Thall deserved the title because it was harder to get medals back then without knuckle huck and stuff.

idk dawg ive never seen him hit a crusty ledge spot filmed on a camcorder from 87 so till then i think his status is a bit questionable

I love when people also act like his big mountain/powder game lacks. Wait till he's done competing in 3-5 years and he will be dropping hammer backcountry parts. He hasn't had many big inquires so he's still got so much potential in the next 10 years. It's crazy to think he's still has a lot more skiing in him since he's accomplished so much already.

Crazy that you would say that when you have never seen Candide riding on a pair of 189 sego bighorns

Idk man there’s this one Lady who skis pipe named Elizabeth Swaney and I think she’s way better than that henrik guy

Its a hard tie between Shane McConkey, Tanner Hall and Candide Thovex. All of them dominated the competition scene for a decade. Most pros today get 3-5 years max before retiring.

I think the nuttiest part is how he's gonna be 30 and still competing in the olympics, nobody else has been able to stay relevant in the same competition scene (as in without switching disciplines) as long as he has

ok but when we say “greatest skier of all time” it’s a bad question. henrik and Jesper are maybe the best, but Wallisch, Lindsey Vonn, McConkey and Ankilla have easily had more of an impact on the culture and the direction skiing went.

No one had a bigger impact to skiing than Mikael Descheneaux. His style still resonates today

Handy Windex

Fr though how isn't Candide the GOAT?

He has a gold medal in the three major X Games disciplines, pushed the sport with video content and his own invitational event, is the first person to jump AND spin Chad's Gap, has the most watched skiing videos on the internet, and won the FWT in his rookie season a year after being told he wouldn't ever ski again.

I love Henrik and think his dominance in comp skiing while revamping his trick selection year after year is incredible. He might be the greatest park skier ever. Its hard to argue with Candide's resume for best freeskier ever though and I think the only other person who comes close is THall

I agree with this. I’d say Henrik is the current king of park, but Candide is the overall freeski GOAT

For me it's still Candide just because of how long he has remained at his level of skiing which is still quite frankly ridiculous. Progressed the sport(by a mile) for well over a decade, won every park comp and the Freeride World Tour.

In ten years when we’re all TACTILE skiing we’ll know who the real GOAT is

In 10 years most of us will be lucky if we can still ski after destroying our knees

y’all stay sleeping but I’m putting my chips on ankilla. Dude literally redefined the game.

Nah the future is gonna be dope, we'll all have robotic knees that can calculate the perfect pop needed for a quad 18.

And poles with weights that automaticly move up and down in the pole to speed up and slow down your rotation

Agreed. Candide, Tanner, Shane.

I'll believe it when I see it. His big-mountain game has been ultra-lame throughout his career so far.

Big mountain is the most overrated skiing there is. I've seen kids from the east coast and Midwest move out west and within 3-5 years their charging huge lines and sending massive cliffs. I could write a giant list of names and within 5 minutes on their Instagram feed it wouldn't be hard to tell they rip. As far as pros look at Tanner Hall for example, there's no reason that Henrik can't do what he's done and then some. Even though he's from Montana he was mainly a pipe and park skier than transitioned to big mountain.

I'm not saying it's impossible. But Henrik's big-mountain footy has always looked pretty weak to me ... Even his footage from AK a couple of years ago.

He is, however, probably the greatest park skier to ever live.

Didn't both Henrik and Tanner ski moguls at one point?

Probably. Park skiers that have skied moguls generally have the best style. That's why they have such good control with their body and skis as that's extremely important in mogul skiing. That's why Candide is so smooth since he used to crush moguls when he was younger.

I def feel that and normally I don't make excuses for skiers but for Henrik it makes sense. Henrik get's paid to ski park and mainly to compete, so he needs to maximize the time he can compete and ski park very aggressively. I'm not saying he won't get paid once he stops competing and changes things up but it def won't be as much as he's getting now.

It's very seldom that skier's who can ski professionally can retire off the money they made from skiing; this isn't the MLB etc. In Henrik's case I think he would be able to pull it off if he can keep competing for 3-5 more years. Therefore this definitely has an affect on the way he skis big mountain since he needs to stay healthy in order to get paid. Once he stops competing I think will start to see him push things more in the backcountry.
