Henrik H and Level 1 - What happened?

I've been listening to Level 1's podcast (highly recommend it) but something I haven't heard anyone discuss is why Henrick was really a one-and-done with his seg in Refresh? I know he had a few shots in After Dark (Maybe some in Eye Trip?) but he never had another big segment like Refresh.

I'm guessing there wasn't anything dramatic, but curious as to why he never filmed much more with them.

I think he blew his knee the year of Eye Trip, and then after Eye Trip Eric Iberg started Inspired and asked Phil and Henrik to be a part of it, and told them they could do whatever they want when it comes to filming. I think the first year of the B&E show was during Eye Trip, and if you listen to Phil's episode of the Powell Movement, he said he wasn't too stoked on how his segment came out in Eye Trip cause the song was censored, and said he would have picked a different song. So Phil wanted to have more control over the content he puts out, and Henrik probably wanted the same thing. Maybe there's an interview with Henrik telling his version of how it went down, but I don't remember reading one.

but yeah henrik blew up after that year, B&E Show started just the next season. and to put it in perspective, his nose butter trip 16 was only in 2013 i'm pretty sure, he went psycho during that period, makes perfect sense he'd do his own thing

I figured Inspired played a role to some extent. Interesting about Casabon, I'll have to give that a listen.

Kind of a shame - Level 1 had such a stacked crew, would have loved to see Henrick film a bit more with them (especially in Romance).

Yeah I remember being real bummed when I was younger that they wouldn't filmed with Level 1 anymore. And then a couple years later everyone started leaving.

Yeah, when Wally, Ahmet, Hornbeck stopped filming, the movies lost their vibe (for me). Must say, Will Wesson was a low key decade+ skier with Level 1.

i have to assume the money was better doing solo projects. because the whole industry switched to this at the same time. not just them.

True. TBH, I bowed out of being involved at this time until I moved out to Denver about 9 months ago. Getting a bit caught up now - good point.

That’s actually really interesting. His Eye Trip segment has always been one of my favorites tbh. Maybe it was just the time of life I was at when I saw it that made it really stick with me. I need to listen to the Powell Movement!

Episode 159. I started it last night, haven't finished it yet. Lots of interesting stuff about Orage as well

B&E happened, that's pretty much it. I think they discussed it on level1 podcast that phil and henrik wanted more creative control and inspired gave that.

So they made shitton of episodes, blackout, education of style, be inpired and asa few movies all while Henrik did and won x games and made it to the Olympics twice

There seems to be a fundamental misunderstanding in freeskiing that athletes have contracts with and/or are 'sponsored' by movie companies. At Level 1, there's no contractual obligation to ski for us; if we're filming with someone like Henrik, we are 100% behind them if they choose to pursue a solo project, film with other crews, etc. Occasionally, like in the case of Parker and CLo, we'll have people film with us, take a hiatus for a personal project, and then come back to do more stuff with Level 1. There's no bad blood between Henrik and Level 1; we're all stoked that he's crushing it and producing some of the illest content out there!

Of course - this makes a ton of sense and I never thought there were obligations to film with specific companies. Was more just curious as to if there was more to the story which it sounds like there really wasn't.
