Hematomas

So I've got a decent sized hematoma (about an A cup) on my hip from falling pretty hard on a flat down box. Bad idea to try and disaster that.

Anyways, I have to get it removed. I'm heading to see a plastic surgeon, and I know there's only two ways to get rid of it. Drain it, or straight up cut it out. The fall happened two years ago, so some of it has already started to turn into hard calcium. I'm assuming since that's already happened, they're just going to have to cut it out.

Has anyone had experience with this? I'm really not worried, but I kind of want to know what I'm in for before I get there.

haha michelle that sucks i have the same problem but i never really went to the doctor about it. i just wait to fall on it again and have it turn back into liquid. i might get it drained this summer, i have had it for over 2 years.

man, i wanna get one of those all over my entire body, that way I could take a bullet to the gut and not die. it'd be like a freaken exoskeleton man!

then thats not a hematoma, look up what a hematoma is and you will find out that is not what you have.

eww gross, but if its calcified you can maybe shave it into a baseball or something once they surgically remove it

ya most likely thats what happened because a hematoma is a formed pocket of fluid and blood not a dent. my aunt and uncle are both surgeons they explained exactly what a hematoma is to me. but i guess i did see a doctor because i showed my uncle but he just said it would go away at some point but it hasn't. maybe i will get him to remove it.

Yah mine hasn't gone away, and it continues to hurt really bad when I fall on it. It even hurts if my cat like steps on it.

And I guess since it's not life threatening and all that shit, it might not be covered under insurance because it would be 'cosmetic surgery'. That's a load of crap, sure it's partly cosmetic, but I want to get that shit off and out of me before it completely hardens.

And Jodi, mine is like a big bulge. I've never heard of a dent! That's crazy! My doctor partially explained it to me though. I guess every-time I bruise it, the more blood gets released, and then since the blood has no where to go it attaches to the muscle and hardens. Other times, it just makes a big sac of blood. I've also never heard of it being a dent, I would definitely get that checked out!! (By a different doctor, haha)

Oh so thats what that is, i had a fall a few months ago and have one on my leg now. Is there a place on yours where you have no feeling? I have a spot on mine where i just cant feel it at all
