ok, so i have a white 13" macbook, as stock as it comes, (1gb ram, 80gb internal) and i need more.

i am just looking for recommendations for the best/cheapest ram chips (i want at least 2 gig) and internal HDs (at least 250gig) i have checked out what they have at bestbuy, but i'm just confused as to what HD's and RAM chips will be compatible with my mac. thanks for any advice

any box will state if it is compatiable with macs.

or you can google it and buy it off ebay like i did.

updated my mac mini to 2gig ram, it was super easy to put in.

ive put a stick in my brothers ibook and that was even easier.

there is such things as different types of ram though. not all rams will work on a mac you have to get the right one

when i broke the screen on my mac i googled "mac repair" and the first hit i looked at was a site that had you send your mac in and they fix it, then send it back. you can also send it in to upgrade your mac. might be worth checking out.

i didnt upgrade my memery or ram with that program. i just fixed my screen and noticed that they also offered that service.

I'm not 100% sure but I don't think you can make physical hardware upgrades to macbooks. If memory is all you need just go buy an external hard drive good ones are only like $100 and are super easy to use and come ready to use (no set up). just plug it into your computer. I have an iomega. Easiest one I've ever used with a mac. Oh and I have the same macbook btw.

im gonna have to disagree with that one.
if i bought a PCI ram card it sure as hell wouldnt fit in a macbook.

like i suggested before, google whats compatible for your laptop and then buy it from a online store or ebay, then install it yourself.
cheapest way, period.

take out your battery, unscrew the three or four screws holding the metal bracket in, push the levers back, pull out old ram, push in new ram, until it feels like its about to snap, and then push the levers back in. memory done. now sell your old ram to one of the thousands of mac users on whatever campus you attend who don't know shit about computers besides macs being cool. next, do the same with the hd. then put metal bracket back, put 4 screws back in, then put the battery back, and you're done. thats a bingo!
also, newegg

nice. i went to the mac store and they were like 200 bucks to upgrade to 4 gig. i told them to go fuck themselves.

your asian and you dont know what a PCI slot is?
and to think, i was just about to ask you for help with my calculus.

dude.
i was trying to help the thread creator out with how i went about upgrading my ibook and mini and what i thought was the cheapest route. if you have a different opinion thats fine. you say every ram card is compatible with mac, im saying i JUST went through this process and i dont think they are. we dont have to agree, but lets be civil.
im pretty sure if you re-read this entire thread, and some of your comments to people, youll quickly realize your the cunt.
next time before posting in a thread trying to help some one i will send you a PM to make sure you agree and get the asian seal of approval.
