Help with university decision..

ok so im currently doing my 1st year (which is basically general studies) in a 5 year bachlor of commerce (co-op) degree and im looking at what to declare for my major and minor. i can do the bcomm degree, i can do it with honours(you have to declare you are trying to do it with honours-min 75% average), i can do it with a minor (psychology is what im interested in), i can do it in conjunction with another degree (computer science is what i would do). now it would be killer to have an honours degree in commerce and a degree in computer science but im not sure if the work load would be too much. i am by no means overly smart and im pretty damn lazy, but whenever i set my mind to something i alway manage to do it by atleast the bare minimum. would you suck it up and do the extra work for the joint degree, just do 1 degree with a minor, or just do 1 degree and take all easy electives?

my buddy took a computer science class 1000 level, and hes pretty smart and he struggled with it. i would say you might want to stay with the major and the minor and not the double major. But try a computer science course and if you do well, in second year you can try and do a double major still. Good luck in what ever you do

 
thanks for the advise. basically right now i am doing psyc and i like it and im doing good (85average). i would do a major in business and a minor in psyc. or i would drop psyc this term and pick up computer science. the majore problem is it totally fucks up my schedual which i did out for maximum skiing time and i dont really want to drop psyc so i may just do the minor

i know what you mean by classes getting in the way of skiing, i have tuesdays and fridays off, and i don't care if i need the class nothing is taking up my ski days. Just wondering where do you go to school. I would also stay in the pysc class since you have already done almost a have year, and you will probaly lose money if your going to drop it. You could also do computer science in summer school as well.

 
i go to school at momorial university of newfoundland. right now i have monday wednsday and 2/3 of thursday off to ski. i think im gonna keep it. i wouldnt loose any money if i droped psych next term because its a new course each term

Go for the minor, I'm getting my Bcomm this year with a minor in economics, I figured that if you're in school for that long you might as well take a couple extra classes for a minor

 
i'm a third year kine student at York in Toronto, and just let your first year be, you will figure out what you want after this year. If you do get the chance take a summer school course, even if its over the internet. take it, it will help you get out of school faster and without as much pressure

 
if its anythign like UBC, second year commerce is damn hard and you better really want it or itll destroy you. and it doesnt sound like you really know what you want if youre asking newschoolers.

Go for the double and just work harder. You will be glad that you did.

As for what double in, just pick what interests you.

i know exactly what i want to do for the rest of my life. and i love business and i know for a fact i wanna do a bcomm degree but i just figured that a 2nd degree would be quite an asset. especially in computer science. its basically a 100% garentee of a good job.
