Help with swaps/switch ups.

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to properly do a front or back swap/switch up. I slide right foot forward and feel as though I’ve got a solid foundation when it comes to sliding rails, but I’m not sure if it’s the way I position my upper body or my arms that’s giving me troubles. Any tips/pointers would be appreciated.

pedal before you switch up and hike the rail

I’m working on front swaps right now so might not be good advice, but if you can 270 out then do that but just higher up on the rail and land left foot forwards.

Try doing then just at the end of the rail like your just tapping the end, once your comfortable start trying them earlier

this helped with my confidence a lot when I learned them. Also, rotate your upper body so its facing pretty much head on to the rail then jump and rotate your lower body around the rail while keeping your upper body forward. It's easiest to just rotate your lower half when you get on to the rail so your upper half is already facing straight then initiate the switch up.

what does pedal mean

Scissor is another word. But it's pretty much how you stop yourself spinning when on the rail. It looks like your forward ski is down or up and your back ski is the opposite

if you cant front or back 270 out i highly recommend learning that first

I can front and back 2 out no problem, just trying to get more techy while on the rails now

I learned these last season. One thing I have to make a conscious effort towards is making sure my shoulders / balance is level with the angle of the rail. I used to slip out all of the time because I just focused on getting the 180 without distributing my weight properly.

Make sure you can slide rails unnaturally. When doing the swap turn your shoulders the way you want to swap. Put a piece of snow on the middle of the rail and try to front swap over it. For backswaps set your rotation almost as a 270 on and it will force yourself to do the backswap. These tips are what helped me the most
