Help with ski choice!!!!

Hey. I'm a powder/bumps/all mountain skier, but I'm getting into freestyle. I wanna get a set of ski's now I've reached a stable height but don't know where to start.

I want twintips, but there's hundreds of types out there, from Salomon, Rossignol, K2, Head etc...

As I said before, I'm only starting out freestyle, and so I want something that'll still hack the bumps and powder I'm used to but with tips to give me something to "play" with in the park...

Any ideas?! Thanks

since you will be doing some park and more all mtn and bumps, i'd suggest looking into something like the k2 public enemy or the line prophet 80. i personally prefer wider skis, but if you are a bump skier, you probably don't want a ski much wider than 85 in the waist

Yeh, I had a go on some 1080 Spaceframes last week...they were awesome fun, but didn't have any edge to them it seemed?!

I saw those Salomon Pocketrockets, and just not a fan of the wider skis like you said because of bumps...

Is the PE narrower than the Seth Pistols? Again I saw some pistols last week, and they looked seriously wide....

Thanks for the quick response guys!

yea, the public enemy is narrower than the pisol...it's 85 in the waist, which is narrow enough for bumps , but will still float in pow

it's also stiffer than the pistol, so better for all mtn

the karma is sick too from what i've heard and read

^ yeah the pistols are much wider than the public enemys. the new public enemy is 85mm underfoot and the pistol is 95.

Ok awesome, I just saw the graphic for the karma, looks insane! haha obviously how it skis is more important, but they don't seem to be that big in Europe...

So the karma, public enemy or prophet 80...

Vicious, is Jibij a national chain of stores or just in Boulder?

it's just in boulder, but josh will ship anywhere. give him a call if you want to discuss ski options 1-866-jib-skis

haha complete coincidence, but I'm starting as a Freshman at CU in the fall...I was coming on here to ask about ski's because I wanna get the heads up before I arrive...

From the UK, so never skied regularly enough to warrent buying my own set, always rented...

I'll make sure to grab the shops address and come buy from you...do you allow demo-ing skis if I wanted to compare the karma, PE and prophets?

^They demo everything, Josh Bryant even lets people try his skis.

'Duran Duran bought Armada, Armada bought Microsoft, Microsoft bought MSP and AOL, AOL owns Time4 which owns the MountainSportsMedia which owns SKi, Skiing and RIP Freeze... so Armada now owns McDonalds and Coke.

hey the new Head Mad Trix Mojo80's are an awesome choice. They have an 80mm middle which is pretty much perfect for everything, but you might be sacrificing a tiny bit of powder performance. Then again if your a mogul basher then a "powder" ski is definately not a great option. Head have a great reputation as an insane all mountain ski anyway.

And Karmas?? theyre 87 wide, thats realy pushing the limits as a mogul ski.

Cheers for that man....Mad Trix are moseleys sig ski aren't they? Could be wrong tho...?

Yeh you're right about the Karma, wide skis would suck in the bumps, but too narrow and i'm gonna have to go all out through deeper snow...

I haven't got deep pockets so I'm gonna look for something between 80-85 I think...

Yeah and as a side note, Mad Trix are also the toughest skis you can buy. I had a look at the bases of one of my mountain's best rail skier and his Mad Trix had almost NO base scratches at all (if you looked real close u could see some very feint perpendicular lines, but my goddamn race skis had worse), it was insane. Anyway, I'm looking to buy myself some new twins this season as well, and i'm keeping a close eye on the Mad Trix and the AR5's (especialy as i almost never have powder here, so i don't have to even worry about that).

Good luck
