a lot of you guys that hit rails/boxes etc. or just know anything, do you slide better if you detune the edges of your ski by your binding ( or wherever you slide mostly )? just taking the file across a few times to smooth it out should do it or...?
ummm if your hitting boxes i find its better to detune alot more then just underfoot or youl catch, for handrails, underfoot will work fine with rock, file or anythin like that
ya use them one day, at first you might catch some or grind the rail really slow but i used brand new skis and in 1 da there all set, just dont ride wood yet
when i got my old skis tune, an insain austrian did them and they were so sharp at the tips i had to treat them to a cement parking block to make it somewhat rideable, man was it a great tune though.
actually it puts more stress on your edges as it's putting the same amount of force due to impact on a smaller area, creaking a weak spot in your edges and making them more prone to breaking.
detune them with a file not to agressavley and never shapren them and they will work like magic, plus youll stil have a little edge until you ride enough rails
yeah ski around a bit and actually enjoy being able to lay into a carve if uve got new edges... fuck detuning... just go hit boxes/rails for a day and they will be dull...
