Help with my full tilts

how do i improve the snugness/fit of my fultilts? . i got the right size (29.5 i wear a 12 shoe), my toe meets the tip nicely and i put extra 1cm dense foam boards under the liners along with two foam inserts on each toe, a half an instert behind each ankle and my old racing booster straps. cables are also max tightness but whenever i land switch hard, or land backseat i can feel my foot slide uncomfortably out of place.(usually up and down and sometimes very slightly back and fourth resulting in slight toe bang). please help this is starting to effect my skiing. they are 2011 classics if you care to know

This is funny^

But seriously...did you actually have a bootfitter measure and choose a shell for you? I only say this cause I wear a 9.5 in street shoes and a 25 in my FTs. With or without the shims and the strap, you shouldn't feel your foot move around in the shell. The straps etc will help if it feels too loose around the ankle, but if your foot is actually moving I would say your shell is too big. Still.....go to a bootfitter.

if you can fit any extra foam in your boot you got the wrong size....For a size 12 in a skate shoe you should be in about a 28 boot....I'll put money down that you are actually an 11 in shoe size and could fit in a 27.5 ski boot.

My suggestion is to start with the right sized ski boot.

the 29 was noticeably to small. forgot to add that. im more concerned about the lateral movement than the forward and aft movement (i have hella flat feet) different boards? insoles? plastic inserts? ideas

29 and 29.5 are the same size....The difference between half sizes in ski boots is the liner...It is "prepacked" or 1 mm thinner then those found in a full size.

I'd recommend getting your boots fit by a professional boot fitter, you have the wrong size boot. Im a 12 in some shoes for the most part im an 11. I wear a 27 in my full tilt t'walls. I used to fit boots. Yours are two big 100%, if you can fit anything extra in your boot they are to big, no denying it sorry bro but you fucked up in the store when buying your boots.

Sounds like you could use some footbeds. You most likely have broken in the liners enough that they aren't as snug around your foot.

I would suggest seeing a bootfitter.

even if they are technically the right "size" for you, they might not be the right boot for you.

when you buy boots, you have a shop boot fitter fit you for a boot for a reason.

if your stuck in these boots op you could try some "SuperFeet" footbeds, they can be found overpriced at most ski shops, or the same product can be found at regular prices at a sportcheck or online.

Sounds like the shells are too big. Besides that, if you need all that shit in your boots to keep you food down its the wrong shell to start with. Go see a GOOD boot fitter and LISTEN to what they say.

Has anyone ever had a boot where landing backseat doesn't hurt? My FTs fit really well, but if I fuck up, it still hurts. I would say your best bet is to start stomping. But ya, also footbeds might help. They should move your foot forward a bit and make the boot snugger all around.

I just had the same thing, my boots started to pack out and i had tons of movement in my boot and had to fully crank all the buckles, went to boot fitter thinking maybe i was still in a wrong size AGAIN ( been going down in boot sizes multiple different boot fitters/ different boots over the years),

anyways guy tells me im in a good fit would definably not go any lower with size, gets me to put my foot in the boot without the liner and shows me that on the outside of my lower leg/ankle there is a air pocket (or sinus) where my middle buckle comes across that makes it hard for me to get the tightness im looking for to keep my heel back and my foot from moving around. So he goes and puts some thick foam there, brings in the cables, adds some c shaped foam to my ankles for better heel retention, and i feel like im in a brand new boot.

How much room did you have when you were shell fit for the 29s?

If you need that much extra crap in your 29s, I'd say that they're too big. But what do I know, I'm just a guy on the Internet.

I think with a proper footbed in a 28.5 and a molded liner and you'd be golden.

yeah i literally did this exact same thing a few months back. still got some toe problems. REI says they're gonna switch em out for a 28 for me over the summer. till then iv got some superfeet and some extra cardboard in the beds under my toes.

I don't know why everyone says this about their shoe size being significantly larger than their ski boots. Do you guys all buy shoes way too big for you? Obviously a difference of a size or a half could just be explained by the slight variation in brands, but if you fit in a 28 boot i just don't see why you'd wear size 12.

I wear size 10.5 shoes, sometimes 11. my ski boots are 28.5 and i love how they fit. It doesn't really matter though. Make sure your ski boots fit, who cares about regular shoes anyway.

I completely disagree with this. Im on the Level 1 full tilts and im a 10- 10.5 skate shoe and im in 28.5 boots. Theyre the perfect fit, my foot doesnt move. I tried on 28 and it was way too tight, even if it is the same shell as a 28.5.

Mondo point sizes only tell you one thing about the fit of a boot (the generals inside length from heel to toe of the liner in the boot) there are a bunch more determining things in boots to get a good fit. There is far more to your foot than just its length. It might be what they determine your rental boot size on but that's not fitting you for boots. I would walk out the shop if they only asked my shoe size before going and getting a boot. Between brands and even boot models there are differences in last (width of the widest point of the foot), foot volume, heel shape, calve shape, toe box shape, ankle shape and flex and the only way to get this properly right is by going to a boot fitter. If you are having to add foam to your boots theyre not right for your foot shape, sure you can get moulding done but it won't make everything right. I would go to a reputable shop with a good bootfitter and speak to them about the fit of your boot. It might be that they can fix it with a custom footbed and some moulding but it might be a case that you need to get yourself a different boot. (Sorry about the lecture/rant on fit, I just fed up of these threads, nobody can realistically help you of the Internet, fitting boots is a hands on process)
