Every time i try a kinked rail i always end up catching and edge at the kink or if i try to pick my foot up over it i just slide out any advice or do i just need to keep practicing

What sort of kink?

For down flat downs, I find that with an urban takeoff, it helps to start on the closest part of your foot when you land on the rail, and move to the furthest away.

I generally slide right foot forward, so that means coming in from the right side of the rail, I land on my toes. At the first kink, I move to the center of my boot, and at the last a little towards the heel. This helps absorb the kinks. For a lipslide, it goes in reverse. Heel, center, then toe.

If the takeoff is not an urban set up, come in square with it.

I also find that it helps to stay loose, and keep plenty of pressure on that forward foot.

Good luck.

if none of the above advice helps, just disaster everything. not only will you look cooler, you will actually be cooler.

It sounds like you just need to find the happy medium of where to put your weight. Like other people have said, I would start on mellow kinks, and if you can, start with boxes. Just try not to think about it too much and just flow with the rail.
